Chapter 1
“Time to get up, Bree.” A voice awakened me. I slowly opened my eyes.
“Good Morning, sunshine.” My dad greeted me. I sat up and looked at the clock on the wall of my bedroom. It was 7:00, already. I yawned while stretching my arms.
“Good Morning Dad.” I said and smiled at my dad. He was already in his business attire.
“I’m off to work. I’ll probably be home late, sweetheart. Don’t wait up for me.” My dad said and then kissed my forehead.
Once he was out of the room, I sighed. He always wasn’t home. My dad works with Simon Cowell, the famous producer. He and my dad have been business partners at their company and close friends since forever. Simon is like an uncle to me since he often comes over to talk to dad about business and such. His job keeps him away from me all the time, especially this week because of a new album one of the artists is recording.
And if you're asking, no, I haven't met any of the singers. I haven't met Cher Lloyd or One Direction. They're too busy to introduce them to me. I really don't want to anyway. I don't even know what they look like. I’ve only met a few celebrities including Justin Bieber and Demi Lovato. They say that the boys of One Direction are nice, kind and fun to hang out with but based on my opinion, I beg to differ.
When I heard the front door click closed, I jumped off my bed and ran downstairs to the living room window where I would be able to see my dad leave. I opened the curtain a bit and saw that he just got in the limo. I smiled to myself and walked back up to my room on the second floor. I live in a three storey apartment with my Dad in New York City. And let me tell you, it is really big, elegant, fancy and very expensive.
Once in, I slammed the door shut and went to the study area of my room. I sat down on the fluffy, spinning chair and opened my laptop. I impatiently waited for it to open.
“Finally.” I mumbled when it opened. I clicked on the email site and logged on. I typed in my username which was ‘Cupcake101’ and my password. I waited until the site finished loading.
Please, please say those three words.
“Welcome! You’ve got mail!” My computer said and showed an icon of an envelope popping out of the mailbox. I clapped my hands and clicked on my e-buddy’s username, ‘GB152’.

Subject: Dusty
Dusty is my best friend’s cat. He has black and white fur. As I said before, I and my best friends have only been here for two months and Dusty already loves the streets of New York as much as I do.
Believe it or not, Dusty likes water. He even knows how to swim. I know, it’s very, very weird but it’s true. A swimmer offered to buy him before but my best friend turned it down because he said that “I would never sell Dusty. No I wouldn’t. He’s like a brother to me.”
So now, Dusty lives with us so he could spend the whole day sleeping on a big, blue pillow. Sometimes, I wonder why my best friend loves cats so much. From my experience, Dusty’s very lazy and only gets up when it’s time to eat, just like Garfield. Sigh… I’ll never understand his love of felines. He’ll probably turn into an old cat lady in the near future.
Anyway, don’t you just love New York in the fall? It makes me want to buy a bunch of asters. I would send you a freshly picked, bouquet of Asters, if I knew your name and address. On the other hand, this not knowing has its charms.
