While we were there, Abby came in with some shocking, not-so-good news: Charlie got himself on the naughty list. I didn't want to believe it, but then again, it's been a long time since I've seen him, and a lot can happen in a few years.
"Is this what the three of you have been trying to tell me?" Scott asked us after Abby left.
"Great! You told him," Curtis says, just entering the room, "Now, let's get you dressed for that meeting."
"I can't have the meeting here," Scott says, "I gotta go see Charlie."
"Curtis," I say, "Tell him. Now."
"Tell me what guys?" Scott asks, irritated.
The boys then try to explain to Scott that he needed to get married by Christmas Eve or he wouldn't be Santa anymore.
"Well, what about the kids? What about you guys?" He asks concerned.
"It's not completely hopeless," Bernard assures him, "you still have time."
"How much time do I have Curtis?"
"28 days." The smaller elf responds.
"So I have to find someone by Christmas."
"Christmas Eve." I corrected.
"I guess it's over, then." Scott says in defeat, but we assure him that things will work out.
