A few more days passed, and we went back to what we've been doing. Suddenly, the Toy had us all stop, and he was wearing a black, military-like outfit.
"Oh no," I said under my breath.
The Toy then announced that the world was getting all coal and no toys this year, and to make sure we didn't get any ideas, he brought in a toy soldier army. As they marched in, some of the smaller elves clung to me, scared of them. I looked over to Bernard, who was also trying to calm some of the nearby elves, standing a few feet away from me.
"This has gone too far." I tell him. "We have to do something."
He nodded in response and outed the truth about the Toy to everyone. As he explained everything, two of the soldiers approached him and started to take him away.
"No! Get away from him!" I say, running over and trying to pull them off.
"I'll be fine, Alice." He assures me, "Just go."
"But-"
"Go!"
I stopped and turned toward the Toy.
"You won't get away with this." I say before running off.
"You really think so, Alice?" The Toy asks, "Get her!" He orders the soldiers, and I hear them after me.
I ran as fast as I could through the workshop with the soldiers on my tail until I found what I was looking for: a jetpack. I grabbed the first one I could and strapped it on before making it outside. I turned to the soldiers as they started to close in as I turned it on.
"Try and catch me now." I say, taking off and heading back to get Scott.
