Chapter 18: A Surprise Family Visit

Things seemed to be okay for the next while, but I still kept my guard up. I also took a few moments to head back to my place and get some more normal cold weather clothes. Not that my usual dress and orange jacket didn't make me look less human, it was just that it wasn't exactly winter wear. So I traded my purple and white dress, snowman tights, black flats and orange jacket for blue jeans, brown snow boots, and a pastel pink long sleeve shirt with a purple coat. I also had to remove my red headband and put on a red beanie instead.

Satisfied with that, I head back out where I saw Carol with... Lucy?

"Miss Alice! Hi!" Lucy said excitedly as she ran over to me.

"Hey there, Gingersnap." I said, calling her by the nickname I gave her during one of the times I visited home. "What brings you all the way up here?"

"Uncle Scott brought me." Lucy says proudly.

"And guess who came with her?" A familiar female voice said.

"Mom?" I ask, and sure enough, my mom was also hurrying over.

"Alice, honey, how are you?" Mom asks, "You doing okay?"

"Yeah, I'm great." I respond. "Things have been a bit crazy, but other than that, doing well." Then I also remembered that my mom hasn't met Carol. "Oh, Mom, this is Carol, Scott's wife. Carol, This is my mom, Ella."

The two shared a quick conversation with each other. Getting to know each other, What my mom thought of Carol's parents, you know, adult talk.

"Can we see the workshop Miss Alice?" Lucy then asked.

"Of course." I reply, "Could you take her, Mom? It's right in there. Find Curtis and tell him I sent you. I would go, but I'm really busy with work right now."

"Of course, Alice." Mom says, "Tell Bernard I say hi." she adds before starting for the workshop with Lucy.

"Oh, wait!" Carol says, "My mom and dad can't know we're at Santa's workshop in the North Pole."

"Where do they think we are?" Mom asked.

"Some part of Canada." I explain, "Now go, I'll be with you soon."

Carol and I then went to find Scott and her parents, which wasn't that hard once we saw the small crowd. I then left Carol to be with her family while I went back to work.
