Chapter 5
Jessica had just finished recording her latest single. Instead of talking with her manager she went to the roof top for her coffee break. She could not stop thinking of what happened at the party. Hollie was not even talking to her.
“Jessica..” a female voice interrupted her thoughts. She was surprised of Hannah’s presence.
“I’m sorry but I’m so stressed today.” Jessica said calmly. She didn’t want to argue with her again. “If you want Phillip, then, what can I do? If he also chooses you, then, I’ll accept that.”
“Jess, you should not be telling me that.” Hannah smiled.
“What?” Jessica wrinkled in confusion.
“I’m here to tell you that Phillip and I had talked last night. I lied to him. We don’t have a child. Jamie is not his daughter.” She revealed.
“But…”
“It’s true. I thought I could keep him forever by lying, but I can’t stand it. He doesn’t love me at all. I’m letting him go.” She said.
Hollie entered the hotel where Devin was having a press con for his launching movie. After failing in the music industry, he decided to sway a little bit to acting. No one noticed Hollie as she entered the ballroom. She was in her rugged outfit with dark glasses and her hair ponytailed.
“I’m inviting you all to watch my first movie. I’m sure you’ll love it.” Devin said.
“But wait Devin, can we hear you sing again?” a reporter asked.
“Yeah..no problem…”
“Why don’t you sing the one you composed for Hollie?” someone suggested. “That’s a brilliant idea. I will!” Devin agreed.
Hollie smiled seeing him stand up and the music started playing.
“This song entitled, You Should Be Mine…is very important to me. This is all about my feelings for Hollie. I still love her.” He said and began singing.
She could not believe that he still claims the song. Her heart was beating fast. She could not take it anymore. Without hesitation, she grabbed the microphone from one of the reporters and sang the song with him. Devin was astonished and stopped singing. The audience was startled as Hollie removed her glasses.
“Hollie..” Devin stuttered.
“Yes… Ladies and gentlemen, you should really watch and patronize his movie. He’s a great actor and a robber!” she said firmly. “For the information of all, he wasn’t the one who wrote that song. It’s Joshua Ledet’s song for me. Indeed, Devin here is a superb actor. Why don’t you give him a round of applause?!”
Devin turned speechless.
“Well, this press con is done.” A reporter said.
Phillip was told by You and I Talk Show Host, Brandy that he would be on after the commercial. He was there all by himself to promote the Idol Reunion Concert. Jessica was supposed to join her. But because of what happened, he didn’t expect her presence anymore. While he was getting ready with his guitar, someone knocked on the door.
“Phillip…” Jessica grinned.
“Hey…you’re here.” He smiled. He could not describe how happy he was.
“I’m joining you.” She began as she entered the room.
“That’s good news. Thanks. I thought you will never talk to me again.” He sighed.
