CHAPTER 38

Niall and I talk on the phone for almost two whole hours, and when I finally hang up my mind is buzzing. I slowly pick myself off the ground and stretch, feeling stiff from sitting on my closet floor for so long.

I take a quick shower and as I'm wrapping a towel around my wet hair a loud knock sounds on my front door. I stiffen for a second before slowly turning around and putting a robe around my naked body.

I pull at the handle and brace myself for God knows what, but it's only a UPS worker holding a small brown package in one of his hands and a clipboard in the other. I glance at the items suspiciously and pull my bathrobe tighter over my chest. If the man is surprised to see me fresh out of the shower he doesn't show it.

"I have a package for Miss Leah Evans," he informs me in a tired voice. "Please sign on the dotted line to confirm you received it."

"What? I didn't order anything," I tell him coolly, crossing my arms over my chest.

"I believe it is a gift," the man says. "Now, can you please sign-"

"A gift?" I interrupt. "From who?"

His face pinches together uncomfortably and I can that he's getting somewhat annoyed with me, but I hold my ground and he flips through some papers.

The man pauses on one of the sheets and then looks up to me. "The buyer was a man by the name of Harry Styles."

My eyes close. "Of course it was."

The man shifts impatiently. "Sign the paper, please," he repeats and I sigh but do as he says. It's not like I can ask him to take it back.

He hands me the package and I close the door, immediately debating what to do with the small brown box. I end up placing it on my kitchen table and then staring at it from my seat on the couch. I have to admit that I'm overridden with curiosity, but I still can't bring myself to open it.

I decide to watch a movie and settle on The Dark Knight Rises, one of my favorites. But even the intense action and Christian Bale's hotness can't my eyes from flickering over towards the table every minute or so. After an excruciating hour of trying to distract myself, I can't take it anymore.

"Oh, screw it," I say out loud before running over to the table and ripping the box open. Inside lies an even smaller parcel, thin and black. I'm afraid to see what's inside.

I gingerly lift the lid and let out a tiny gasp. Lying on top of the smooth black velvet is the prettiest bracelet I've ever seen in my entire life. I carefully lift it out of the box and in the light it sparkles a thousand different ways. I suddenly feel light headed and I place it back into its box.

I don't even want to know how much Harry spent on that. I slowly walk over to the couch and unpause the movie, even though there's no way I can concentrate on it now.

A little bit after noon, someone knocks on my door again. This time it's a delivery man, holding a huge bag of steaming Chinese food. When I give him a very confused look, he tells me that Mr. Styles sent it for me.

At two o'clock, I open my door to a florist holding the biggest bouquet of flowers I've ever seen in my life. The kind lady has to help me carry them to my counter. I spot a little note sticking out of the petals, and I unfold it only to find a single word printed. Harry.

Half an hour later, a giant box of Godiva chocolate arrives at my door. I don't even question the delivery man at this point. I just add it to my growing pile of gifts sitting atop my kitchen table.
