A New Friend

Luke walked me home. I stopped before I went in. "So does this make us friends?" I ask hesitantly. "It makes us whatever you want us to be." I sigh, "We can be friends but I've never had any." He smiles, "I don't know why any one wouldn't want to be your friend you're perfect." I blush, "I'm not perfect not anymore at least." I turn to go inside, "Do you maybe want to meet me at the record shop on 34th street tomorrow?" I ask. "Yeah sure." Luke says. I smile, "Your so beautiful when you smile. I would love to make you smile everyday." he says. I open the door to my house and wave goodbye to Luke. "I can't believe you Meredith!" "I'm sick of all this bickering Hank I cant take it anymore Sapphire is getting blamed for this by her own brother now your going to talk to Gavin and then your going to get the hell out of my house." "Meredith lets just talk." "No Hank I'm sick of talking I want a divorce and I want custody of the kids!" "Meredith that's not fair." My mom walks out of the kitchen and turns into their bedroom. I trudge upstairs, "Mom and dad are getting a divorce." Gavin says. "Yeah I know." "Sapphire." "Yeah Gavin." "I'm sorry for being a terrible brother." "It's okay." He hugs me, "I always thought you were the best big brother ever." I say. "Who do you want to live with?" He asks. "Mom she's always been there for us she didn't leave me outside freezing in front of school and she never asked me to keep something from the family." "I love mom." "Yeah so do I." I go to my room and go to sleep. In the morning I throw on a red sweater and some ripped white skinny jeans. "Were are you going?" Gavin asks. "To meet a friend." I say putting on my Vans. "Oh have fun." I'm looking at records when I see Luke walk in. "I wouldn't think you were into this stuff?." I laugh, "so do you really think I'm beautiful?" I ask. "Yeah you really are beautiful." I smile. "Listen you don't have to be my friend because you almost saw me commit suicide." I say. "That's not why were friends so do you maybe want to see a movie tomorrow." "You mean like a date?" "Yeah I guess." "Yeah sure."
