Xiao Zhan's POV:
"Zhan Zhan!!!" Wang Yong, my best friend, calls my name as I quickly try to slither away from yet another boring committee meeting. Looking back quickly I salute and run away.
I know I am going to get an earful later but that doesn't mean I am going to sit and listen to yet another boring meeting. Well if I wanted to listen to something, I might as well attend my lectures.
Walking into the cafeteria, I quickly walk over to Ms. Mei, the caretaker who looks after all our foods. I long learnt that if I have to survive in this cruel world (poor me) I need to be good to Ms. Mei, the perks, I get all the damn tasty foods. But jokes apart, she is genuinely is a lovely aunt. Plump. Cute. Once you see her, and she welcomes you, you feel as if you're a part of her family. Only very few are privileged. I am one of them.
"Aunt Meiiiii" I walk over to her, and quickly hug her, only to push her aside gently and quickly steal some of the lotus seeds. She swats my hands and mocks me "Zhan Zhan!!! Wash your hands before you touch my food" she rolls her eyes but quietly gives me a bundle "who knows where your hands have been". I choke on my lotus seeds and wheeze and I hear howls of laughter from beside me. The staff and my friend Yong, who has suddenly appeared next to me, start to laugh at my expense.
Ms. Mei quickly realising her error, swats he staff and shooed us away. Well atleast I got my lotus seeds. Yummy.
Alden Song, my other friend, whom Yong and I met in our first year joins us and we go about in search of a table to sit.
In all this commotion, I forgot to introduce myself.
Hi, I am Xiao Zhan, everyone lovingly calls me Zhan Zhan.
I am 20, and currently at the University to complete my basic education, so that, I can join the police academy soon and become an officer who helps the people in need.
My family consists of my few friends. Wang Yong, has been my friend since childhood. We were both brought up in an orphanage, worked our asses out, saved money to study further and build up a decent life for us.
Alden Song is a prodigy, from the family of musicians, an absolute down to earth guy, who had no friends when he joined the university. We took him under our wings and today, he is treated as one of the upcoming stars.
And lastly You Bin, he too was an orphan from our orphanage. When once he was bullied, Yong and I protected him. From then on, he became more of a little brother to me and Yong.
That's about it. Moving on.
---
"Zhan Zhan" a sweet voice called me out. Looking up, I saw it was Liu Yang, Alden's classmate. She hangs out with us sometimes and we don't mind as she is pretty cool. "Hey beautiful, how can I be of your service?" (Have I said? I am a smooth talker)"My cousin is joining as a fresher, could you please check out if she has settled in comfortably. I would have gone, but I have a meeting with the teacher" I smile and tell her I have no problem, in checking her cousin out. ;)
She gives me the details and we proceed towards the class.
As we enter, we quickly find out that Liu's Cousin is all settled out and she had no problem in finding her class. We give her our phone numbers and ask her to get in touch with any of us, if she wants any help.
We were just about to leave, when we felt the entire class had suddenly shut up. On looking around, I find the cause. A young man, had entered the class. There was nothing new about it, but it was the aura around him. Chills.
I don't know what happened, but the next thing I know was I went and told him " Hey".
The moment he looked up, his gaze pierced straight into my heart.
An unknown emotion took over my body and I felt as if all my breath left my lungs.
My eyes glazed over and all I could see was a man in white robes. Long flowing hair. A sacred head band, playing an instrument.
