Wang Yibo's POV:

As usual, we rode to the university on my bike and I cherish the closeness between the two of us. To say that I am not looking forward to Wei tutoring me, would be a lie. I inwardly smirk.

"Hey" a familiar face greets us. It's that guy from yesterday, Alden Song.

Wei gives him a quick hug and my blood boils! Relax Wangji, they're brothers.

He turns to me and his smile broadens "Hello". I look at him more closely. He seems very familiar to someone I once knew from a lifetime ago.

"Hello" I greet him back. His eyes softens and his grin makes me more aware of a feeling of familiarity.

"We missed you yesterday for lunch, if you're free, please join us today"

I nod.

Wei and Alden go about talking to each other and I reminisce back to a memory of a lifetime before.

"Golden core?" I question him without my gaze leaving on the unconscious raven hair on my lap.

"Master forbade me to reveal the truth to anyone" Wen Ning answers meekly "Especially to you"

"Why?"

"He knew... You would suffer when you get to know the truth"

I look at him. He knew what I wanted to ask. Why Wei chose him but not me?

"It was my sister who helped him in transferring his core" he focused his gaze sadly on my Wei. "He knew what he was doing"

"Did it hurt?"

He did not answer. He didn't have to. I knew it in my heart. My Wei would never admit anything. It just wasn't him.

"We were both an outcast. Him and me. We knew what it was to survive in this world. He was the first to accept me after my sister."

The pale eyes now saw something that he hadn't seen before in Wen Ning. Wei wasn't just his friend. He was his brother too.

The moment their eyes met, they understood every unspoken words that were ment to be conveyed.

"I am glad he has you" the pale eyes whispered.

"And he has you" he received a sweet reply.

Lan Zhan never forgot Wen Ning for that lifetime. Even after Wei, Wen Ning was the only one who knew what Lan Zhan was going through, until when he no longer existed amongst them.

"Yibo" someone called him. Shaking himself from his stupor, he realised it was Alden who was seeking his attention.

"I need to leave now, have my class. Meet you for lunch" he smiled sweetly. The feeling was uncanny.

Not much for words Yibo nodded and Alden left them.

"Have you known him forever?" Yibo was intrigued.

Taking a sip of his tea, he replies "Not forever, I met him in my first year. We just bumped into him out the music hall. Yong and me. He was getting bullied and we rescued him" he turns to me and smirks "I have always been a badass like that. So yeah, we just clicked. He's a sweet kid. When he introduced us to his parents, we were shocked, cause this guy ain't those snobbish rich kids that you see. He was polite and considerate to everyone around me. He sort of became my companion in everything that I did or wanted to do.

He offers his tea to me and without much thought I drink it. Darn it's so sweet.

" Why do you want to know about Alden?"

"Just" he reminds me of an old friend, Wei.

---

Lunch with Alden was quite interesting and eventful. I got a lot of insight of his lifestyle and family. He was quite, unlike me, but yet quite and laughed and smiled at Wei's antics but rather he was just enjoying.

He just didn't have any malice within him. He was genuine. Just like him. He was the only true friend to Wei.

We bid our farewell and promised to meet the next day.

---

"Yibo, meet you in your room in 5" Zhan enters his room to freshen up.

As I wait for Zhan, I remember one particular such conversation from back then.

---

"You should know, you ment everything to brother"

I look at him. He's growing paler everyday.
I guess he knows too.

"One day, you'll be with him. We'll all be together" his smile shines and soothes my troubled soul.

"One day, brother had confided in me, if anything in his life was pure, it started and ended with you. Wait for him to return."

---

Did you have a peaceful life Wen Ning?
---

"Yibo!!!" Zhan yells next to me. "Are you alright? You have been day dreaming the whole day."

Oh Wei. I smirk.

"Yes, been dreaming about you. What about you, have you been dreaming of me?" I raise my eyebrows.

He blushes. Oh this is new!
