Henry's eyes widened as he stared at him. "Oh my g-" he began, but he was cut off by Macklemore clapping his hand over Henry's mouth.
"Do you want to get us killed?!" Macklemore hiss-whispered.
Henry shook his head meekly.
"Then stay here. Do not move." Macklemore huffs as he walked off into the dark room.
What followed was the sound of someone's body being hit against a metal wall with a thud that echoed through the musty-smelling basement, and a grunt. Henry's eyes widen. He decided not to heed the warning, and slinked along the walls, behind objects and in shadows. He settled in a place behind some crates and boxes. He peered through one of the cracks in the messily stacked boxes.
Standing there was Eminem, one of Macklemore's sworn enemies, and a man in a mask, who he didn't recognize.Macklemore was nestled into a corner, his eyes wide. He was doing a very good job of keeping hidden. The thud was one of Eminem's music elves.
"I TOLD YOU TO GET THE MACHINE READY!" Eminem roars. The sudden, loud noise made Henry flinch, and almost give away his hiding place behind all the boxes.
"I-I'm so-sorry sir- It w-won't happen again!" The small man whimpered meekly.
Eminem growls. "It better not."
The man runs off and pulls a lever on a complicated-looking button pad, right beside Henry.
Eminem prepared to put something in the port that looked like a keyhole.
Macklemore jumps down. "Eminem! Don't put that key in! You know what that thing'll do to the city!" He cried.
Eminem glanced over at him. He put the key in and stormed over to Macklemore, pushing him against the wall, but Macklemore was too quick. He skidded under Eminem's legs and grabbed to try and take the key. Eminem pulled him away and turned the key, then grabbed Macklemore and pushed his head into the machine. Henry's eyes widened. Macklemore managed to struggle his way out. He freed himself from Eminem's grip and took out the key, then tried to make a run for it. Eminem tripped him back over again. He put his foot on Macklemore's chest.
"So we meet again, Macklemore." Eminem tilts his head to the side.
"That we do, Slim. That we do." Macklemore's face shifts into a grin. As if he'd once considered the man a friend, that he'd simply fallen out of touch with, instead of becoming sworn enemies.
"I ought to kill you, you know." Eminem hissed.
Macklemore nods. "I know. But you won't. You say that every time, but you never actually do."
Eminem was growling softly. "This is all your fault, you know! You're the reason I have to bring them back!" His eyes seemed to get teary. He pressed his foot harder into Macklemore's chest.
Macklemore let out a soft grunt. "Th-this thing won't bring them back. You know that, too." he stuttered a little, though his voice sounded unafraid.
"YES IT WILL!" Eminem roared, pulling his leg up and bringing it down swiftly. It made contact with Macklemore's chest with a sickening crunch. Henry almost gasped.Macklemore's eyes go wide. Eminem pulled his foot away. He looked to the masked man and gestured for him to follow, which he did. As soon as they were gone, Henry ran over and kneeled down beside Macklemore. The color started to drain from his face. Macklemore looked up at Henry. "Kid- Look at me-" he huffed. "Take this key. Put it into the machine. Do not let them catch you. Or they will kill you." Footsteps started to get closer. Henry nodded, shaking. He put the key into the palm of his hand, and ran over to the machine. But it was too late. Eminem's masked friend walked in. "HEY!" he yelled, running at Henry. Henry booked it. He didn't get to see the light drain from Macklemore's eyes, but he knew it happened. When he got home, he cried harder than he'd ever cried before. He didn't know whether it was from stress or real sadness, but it was happening.
