As soon as I was awake and dressed, I headed out into the warm New Mexico air. I was searching for a vehicle that I could take without raising too much suspicion. My (e/c) eyes scanned the area surrounding the complex before landing on a small black SUV. I jogged over at a normal pace, not wanting to cause unwanted attention. Once I reached the car, I observed it to ensure that I would be prepared.

Keys? Check. In the ignition.

Full tank of gas? Check.

Water? Check.

I smiled to myself and reached out a hand to open the door.

"Where do you think you're going?"

I cursed under my breath. It was DeLaney.

"Shouldn't you be training or something?" he asked me.

"Actually, Coulson asked me to head back to the lab," I lied. "He thinks Blake or whatever that guy's name was took some of Foster's research." Hopefully, he believed my lie. I'd grown quite good at lying to people. It was often required for the job.

"Okay, cool," he smiled. "I was worried for a minute that you were going somewhere that you shouldn't be going. You know, considering Coulson just asked me to come get you so that you can have a look at the hammer."

Shit.

"Oh, right. I'd forgotten that he wanted me to do that first," I backpedalled, hoping DeLaney would drop it. "Oops, I guess I'm just very forgetful."

"Oh, really?" he questioned, tilting his head. "Here I was thinking that you had the best memory in this joint. Oh wait, you do. Stop lying to me."

"DeLaney, please," I'd given up on lying at that point. He knew me well enough to know that something was wrong. "We've known each other since the Academy. You're like my best friend. Please don't stop me."

"Who said anything about stopping you? I'm coming with you," he smirked.

I just gaped at him.

"Come on, Y/N. You said it yourself, we're friends. I trust you enough to know that if you're sneaking away, it must be important." I just nodded.

"I'm driving," he added.

"Like hell, you are," I scoffed.

Once we were both seated in the car, we took off, careful not to be too obvious. Once we'd left the complex, I sped up confidently. I wanted to get to Foster and Selvig quickly to increase the likelihood that Thor would still be there.

After we'd arrived at the lab, I got out of the car and told DeLaney to stay put.

"I don't think you're in any position to tell me to stay here," he replied, making me roll my eyes.

Entering the lab, we saw Selvig, Foster, Thor and Darcy (at least, I thought that was her name) washing dishes. They hadn't noticed us so I cleared my throat lightly, hoping to attract their attention. Jane, however, did not look very happy to see me.

"You," she said angrily. "What are you doing here?! Haven't you done enough?!"

"I assure you, Ms Foster, we're not here for you," I replied, not wanting the situation to escalate.

"Frankly, I'm not too sure why we're here," interrupted DeLaney. "But I think we're here for your friend Donald."

"Who? We don't know anyone called Donald," said Darcy, missing Selvig's signal to go along with it.

"Look, we just want to have a word with Thor," I said, ignoring the surprised look my colleague was giving me.

"And what do you seek from me?" asked the blond. "I thought the son of Cole had already released me."
