Once I finished my shift I headed straight for home wondering about the hours that held a mystery because it would be one of the first times I would be hanging out with another person other then at school. I got home a little after 5:30 and of course the phone was ringing I picked it up.
"Hello?"
I slurred into the phone.
"Hey it's Johnny"
I heard him say.
"Hi so do you want to meet up for the project?"
I asked right away.
"Uh yah meet me at the park and we can go from there"
"Ok I'm leaving right now"
I said and hung up the phone. I pulled my hair out of my french braid and it was all wavy from being there all day. I still had my light blue jeans on with the navy sweater and red converse. I thought it looked good so I left it on. Once I had my hair in place in a high ponytail I was out the door. My camera kept hitting my side right above my hip from the way it was on my shoulder. It hurt and I honestly couldn't stand just leaving it there because I wanted to capture every moment possible. I pulled it off my shoulder and looked through the lense. I saw the park come into view Johnny and one of his friends were by the fountain and the fall leaves were all over. I snapped the picture because the timing was so perfect. I shoved it into my bag and immediately put my camera back to my side.
"Hey Ashlyn"
I heard Johnny say with a wave. I waved back trying to keep my shy image.
"This is Ponyboy"
He said introducing his friend.
"Hi"
I said with a smile to be polite. I shook his hand then we started walking.
"What's with the camera?"
Johnny asked.
"Oh my mom gave it to me before she died just something to capture moments"
He nodded. I smiled to myself I never shared that with anyone.
"I think I know exactly who you are Ashlyn"
He said. I looked at him right into those eyes I had never seen. They were a beautiful big brown and I couldn't help but want to look at them more they were so beautiful.
"One sec"
I said to him. He was still looking at me. I pulled my camera out and I got to the right angle I need to be. It was both him and Ponyboy next to one another both looking straight at the camera no emotion just there faces. I got Johnny's beautiful born eyes and Pony's darling green eyes.
"Keep going"
I said once I shoved the picture in my bag.
"What was that?"
He asked.
"I just wanted to get a picture of something I just noticed before it was to late"
I said. It was somehow easy talking to Johnny. He nodded.
"So what I was saying was I think I know who you are. Your a shy girl who knows how to see the good in people you love beautiful sights and amazing wonders you work hard to keep your life moving because to you it seemed it all stopped"
He said. I smiled I never noticed but that is exactly who I was.
"And you Johnny Cade is a shy boy with friends that means the world to him and no matter how much he gets hurt there is always someone there for him to lean on"
I said. He smiled and we walked in silence the rest of the way to who's ever house it was I always noticed. I knew we were heading there because I knew how to get there by heart.
