"I can't Patrick" the shaky words flew out of my mouth. Patrick got off his knee and stood up looking hurt and disappointed.

"I understand, it has been four years. I'm sorry for all that then" he said sadly like he didn't know what to do next.

"Paige, what are you doing?" I herd Amelia ask from behind me. I turned around to see my mom looking sad and Amelia looking confused. "You've missed this man for four years."

"Paige, you should take him to your room to discuss this" my mom said and she was right, Patrick was looking at me like he was going to cry. I picked up my bags off the floor and Patrick already had ahold of two of them before I could object. I walked up the stairs as Patrick followed. We stepped into my room which looked the exact same as I had left it. I herd the door close behind me.

"I'm sorry I did that Paige, I know this is a really bad time." He said.

"You don't need to keep apologizing Patrick, its fine." I said.

"Do you think I should leave?" Patrick asked.

"No, no. Please don't, my mom needs you." I sat on my bed and began to think about dad again. There was silence in the room I felt myself give in from all of this and finally begin to cry again. My cries were the only thing in the room for a moment until the side of the bed beside me squeaked as it sunk in.

"I want to be here for you too." Patrick said quietly from beside me.

"I don't think I know you anymore." I said through my sobs.

"If I wasn't the same person I was would I be here right now?" He asked. "We don't need to talk about this anymore if you don't want to, I know you're already deeply sad and I am sorry about your dad, more than you'll ever know." He said.

"Thank you Patrick." I said and he gave me a much needed hug.

"I do think in a few weeks or after you get back on your feet you should take a vacation and come out to LA with me to see the guys for a while, if you want."

We herd a knock at my door, it was just Amelia saying she was going with my mom to get something to eat and she wondered I'd we wanted anything, we both declined her offer for food.

"So what's your life like now that you're famous?" I asked with a little laugh, Patrick's hug had made me feel a little better.

"I just moved to a new place. Its kind of busy to be honest with you, but I'm just ready to settle down now. I haven't dated anyone since you so that parts going to be a little rough for me." He admitted.

"You haven't?" I asked curiously.

"No. Does that sound pathetic?" He asked

"I Haven't either. Amelia tried to get me out but I don't think I really had time with school and everything." I said. I realized in a way we had just been waiting on each other. We both had dreams and we set out to find them, there was no reason why we couldn't pick back up where we left off. If my dad were here he would want this, my mom wanted this, Amelia wanted this, but most importantly I wanted this.

"Would you be willing to ask me again?" I asked.

"I was actually planning on just asking until you said yes" he laughed. He looked me in the eyes for a moment. There was nothing but silence in the whole house, it was just him and I, just like it use to be. His eyes never left mine as he moved to the floor in front of me and my bed.

"Will you marry me?" He asked with an eyebrow raised.

"You have always been the only future I see." I said.

"And I have always meant to keep my promise, I wouldn't be here without you" he said and slipped the beautiful silver ring onto my finger. I put my hands on each side if his warm cheeks feeling his sideburns underneath them making me smile.

"I don't think I'm ever going to not love you" he said smiled big.

Should we kiss now or something?" I asked with a smile remembering our first kiss when he asked me to be his girlfriend.

"I don't know, your kind of my first fiancé" he said with a laugh, he remembered it too

"Well your kind of my first fiancé too, so I'm not sure how this is supposed to play out." I admitted while I laughed.

"You want to give it a shot and see how it goes? He asked.

"I won't just give you a shot, I'll give you me." I said and I leaned in from my spot on the edge of the bed and kissed him passionately, he kissed me back from his spot in front of me on the floor.

"Isn't this the part where I say I'm looking forward to more of that?" He laughed making me smile.

"I vividly remember you saying that after our first kiss, years."

"It wasn't a lie" he chuckled.

" You better not get tired of it, you'll only have kisses like that for the rest of your life."

"You promise?" He asked still smiling wide at me.

"I do." I said.

--------------

A few months later Patrick flew my mom, Amelia and I out to LA. Pete, Andy and Joe were surprised especially when he called me future Mrs. Stump. I remember my first hugs with the guys in a long time and you bet we all cried. Amelia and Andy became inseparable again and Pete talked me into looking up the old members of Astoria and doing music with them again, Pete eventually signed us to his record label. Life with Patrick and all of my family together again was better than I could have imagined, it was just like we were kids again, a few things had changed but we knew if we all had each other we could stay young forever.
