1.2 Pha and Beam

Third POV

Both Pha and Beam have reached the hospital and are in the locker rooms changing. They heard that there were incoming traumas and wanted to be prepared. As they were changing Beam called Pha and he turned around to see Beam carrying something.

"You forgot to put this in your locker yesterday" Beam hands him his scope.

As Pha grabbed it both Peter and Beth walked in laughing and talking but quiet down when they saw Beam and Pha. They said hi to each other then they continued to their business. Beam removed his shirt and Beth saw a ring around his neck and asked him about it. Beam quickly put his scrubs on.

"That looks like a nice ring is it from your lover" she smiles at him.

"Yup, it was a promise ring, a promise to love each other forever," Beam says almost with a crack in his voice Pha was the only one who noticed it.

"That's so sweet, Beam you're extremely lucky your lover is so thoughtful and romantic, I'm jealous of you" but Beam didn't feel lucky.

"What are you jealous of, your boyfriend propose to you" Peter states.

"Yeah but that was a promise before their engagement it sounds more romantic" Beth start pouting.

"Be lucky he even did it. I'm surprised he did it knowing he" he doesn't finish he's thought because he saw Beth's eyes start to look sad. He changes the topic when he notices Pha holding his scope. "Hey that looks cool" he tries to grab it but Pha moves away " I'm sorry it just looks really nice, looks specifically made and expensive. Gift from the lover?"

"Yup from my greatest support in life"

"Well, you must be very loved for them to get you a gift like that" Peter compliments him. Pha stays quiet but Beam knows exactly how he feels.

"Now you're sounding envious" Beth smirks at him.

"No, I'm not why would I be envious I received a scope from people that love me and they gave it to me once I became an attending they even engraved it" he shows them the engraving "always be strong"

"Yeah, but he got his from his lover, not his..."

"It doesn't matter" Peter stops her "all because it wasn't specifically made for me and he didn't get it for me himself, he was still part of it, and I received a gift from the three most important people in my life right now thats all that matter" Beth was about to say something when her phone rings.

It was a message from Kat her eyes open in shock then shows it to Peter. They look at each other and run out of the locker room leaving both Pha and Beam in thought.

Beam looks at Pha and asks him how he was feeling. No answer and Beam doesn't push because he knows very well how Pha is feeling because he's feeling the same. Sadness and regret.
