Warning, this may be a cringy story just because of my bad writing and I am not experienced with any sort of horror. I'm a calm book writer so it may not be scary at all. I am also a younger book writer so the style will be weird.
"Wake up, Hansel," Gretel whispered looking at the door before their Mother came home. "Remember, we don't want to make her upset, right?" Hansel nodded quickly and sat up. "The earlier we are awake, the sooner that we can get food." It was five in the morning as Gretel carefully opened the front door of the cottage. "You grab the hatchet. There is no need to act like you can't chop trees." Gretel whispered. Hansel nodded. "Where is papa?" Hansel asked. Gretel shook her head at him. "He'll be home later, you know that." She sighed. "Let's just get our chores done."
"Hansel, Gretel?" Mother said as she came out of the house. "Are we okay?" Hansel asked. Mother nodded. "Yes, you're doing fine." She said softly. "Let's just hope that Father will bring home some food today." Gretel nodded. "Shall we meet him later on, Mother?" Hansel asked. "Once all of your chores are done." Gretel nodded again. "Right, Hansel," Gretel commented. "Mmmhmm." He whispered.
Hansel began to do their chores. Gretel worked in the garden as she would always do in the early morning and Hansel would chop wood until he went to his father at the bakery and mill. He would hunt for small animals in his spare time just to attempt to get a little extra food on the table or to sneak himself extra.
Gretel stood up from her knees and looked into the forest where she knew her brother was. "Hey, Hansel, It's time to meet father." She began walking towards the trees. "It's no time for games, Hansel."
SNAP! Gretel jumped. "Hansel?" She stuttered. "You there?"
She felt something touch her back and she quickly turned to find nothing. "Who's there? Hansel?" She shuddered. Then she felt two arms wrap around her waist.
