Demi had been at the studio all day working on her album. She had texted you letting you know she was on her way home, you had a bad day yourself. You didn't respond and just set your phone down, heading towards the piano in the living room. Slowly playing a melody you heard years ago, you could feel the stress start to melt away. Soon enough the door opened and Demi walked in dropping her keys in the bowl. She couldn't help but acknowledge how at peace you were while you played. She walked over and sat on the bench beside you, resting her head on your left shoulder. You tensed up and got up and walked away, something about human contact made you want to cry. You went out the back porch and sat on a pool chair and stared at the clouds, "If you look too hard at the sun you're gonna go blind baby." She sat on the ground in front of you and you slowly looked at her face, she looked worried. You turned away to look back at the sky, "Honey what's going on? If you had a bad day we can order some italian food and watch Up?" Your stomach growled at the mention of food so you just nodded, she grabbed your hand, "Don't touch me!" You yelled then jumped up walking back inside, Demi sat there confused and hurt. A few minutes she walked inside to find you sitting at the kitchen island with you hands in your hair and your chin down. Seeing you like this broke Demi's heart, walking over to stand across from you she took her phone. She dialed the restaurants number and placed an order. "Baby do you want Pepsi?" You just nodded, "Okay thank you." She put her phone down, her lock screen still lit up, you raised your head enough to see a picture of you and Demi laying on her moms couch asleep, "Can you send me that picture please?" You whispered. She smiled and felt the weight of worlds fall off her shoulders at the sound of your voice. She nodded and picker her phone sending you the adorable picture. You heard your phone bing and Demi looked at it, what she saw was a picture of you and some girl she's never seen before in graduation caps and gowns. "Who's that?" You grabbed your phone turning it off and going to lay on the couch. Demi wasn't satisfied. She pulled up facebook and scrolled all the way and to a post you made 3 years ago today, 2 days before you and Demi met. It was a bunch of photos of you and that girl, some old, some new. The caption read, "Today my best friend lost her battle to cancer. Thank you for fighting so hard to make it to graduation with me, that was always our goal, graduate together. I remember sitting by your hospital bed helping you do homework because you weren't strong enough to write. I remember the day you got released we got ice cream and drove to the top of Cherry Mountain. Thank you making me a fighter." Demi was in tears as she scrolled through the photos and it all made sense now. She walked to the couch and sat down beside you, "Y/n, why didn't you tell me?" It was like the flood gates opened and you couldn't stop the tears, "I- I- I didn't want you to pity me. I just miss her so much." You dissolved into sobs in her lap. Demi held you and scratched your back giving you time to let it out. Finally she spoke up, "Baby, of course I'm gonna pity you, because you're my baby and you're going through a lot of emotions today. It's okay to be upset today, it's okay to be a little distant today But tomorrow, we move on stronger, and you don't shut me out anymore, because dwelling on the sadness will only cause more damage. I love you, cry as long as you need to." Her words made you cry harder and she squeezed you harder kissing your head. She was just happy you were letting it out.
