Brightpaw leaped out towards his mentor, but his mentor twisted out of the way. Paleheart then jumped onto his apprentice, twisting his scruff while taking his paws down his back.
"You, my friend, would be dead if that was a real fight." Paleheart purred. "Go hunt with your sister."

Soon enough, the four cats were hunting. Skypaw crouched low and stalked a small squirrel. She stepped lightly until was very close. She pounced, and grabbed the squirrel by the throat, killing it. "Good catch." Morningeyes praised. "Now, we should head back. The ceremony will be soon." Today was the day Sharpkit and Riverkit become apprentices. The four cats began to trot back, just in time for when Violetstar howled for the clan to gather.

"Today, two kits are ready to become apprentices." Violetstar started. "Sharpkit, from this day forward, you shall be known as Sharppaw. Feathercloud shall mentor you. Riverkit, from this day forward, you shall be known as Riverpaw. Mistwing shall be your mentor."

"Sharppaw! Riverpaw!"

"And I have one more announcement to make." Violetstar's eyes landed on Nightchaser. "Nightchaser wishes to step down, due to her expecting kits." The clan gasped, then cheered and congratulated her. "Thank you Nightchaser, for your service as deputy. Now I must pick a new deputy. Blueheart, you have always been there. I want you to be my deputy."

"I accept" The tom proudly mewed.

"Blueheart! Blueheart!"

Morningeyes watched Blueheart sleep. Her claws were unsheathed, and a smirk glided across her face. She was about to push her claws into his chest, until Riverpaw charged at her, claws unsheathed. He shakily swiped at her face, but she swiftly moved out of the way. Morningeyes pushed him down, and pounded her paw into the small apprentice's head, knocking him out. She carefully dragged Riverpaw back into his nest into the apprentice's den. Soon enough, sunrise came. Morningeyes ran out of camp to go hunting, creating an alibi for her attempted murder. He knows.

That night was the gathering. The clans gathered at the Threestones. After trotting away from his clan, Paleheart was seized and brought inside a hollowed-out bush. "Hey," said a recognizable voice. It belonged to Breezefur. "I wanna share something with you,"

"Okay, go ahead." Paleheart mewed.

"Okay. I... I really admire you. Ever since we were apprentices. You're my best friend, my other half, my wingcat. I know it's forbidden, but, will you be my mate?" The brown she-cat's pelt turned hot.

"Yes! Yes, of course!" Paleheart purred.
