Everything hurt when Ray's eyes opened. The room was unnecessarily bright and the smell of cleaner and antibiotics was too strong for her liking. Her chest seemed like it was on fire and her body was sore and numb.
Her head ached in more ways then she ever thought possible, and she felt a tight binding on her lower lip.
With careful and tired hands, she felt small stitches across her bottom lip.
"Hey, Raybay." A voice on her left said. She already knew who it was from the deep voice and the fact that only one person had ever called her that.
"What happened?" She asked. "Did I stop breathing again?"
"Yes." Bruce nodded and moved his chair closer to her. "You split your lip."
"I'm held together by stitches." Ray attempted to joke.
Bruce smiled slightly. "I took the one out in your neck. It's just a bad scar now. The one on your shoulder will need a few days."
"Where's Bucky?" Ray then asked as confusion took over her.
"He's back home, Ray. You remember?" Bruce asked.
"Oh right. Yeah." Ray shook her aching head. "Sorry. Some things are cloudy sometimes."
"It's okay. I got in touch with Steve, though. I told him what happened."
"Crap, are they on their way here?" Ray asked.
"No. But I think Sam had to hold Bucky back."
"That must have been interesting." Ray pushed the covers off her body and moved to sit up. Her body was still sore but she did have decent healing abilities.
Just then the door opened, and the infamous Tony Stark walked in with a doctor behind him. He smiled when he saw Ray. "Perfect. You're up. It's been two days."
Ray groaned. "What do you want?"
"Is that any way to talk to your savior?"
"Excuse you?" Bruce asked. "It was my formula."
"Ah yes but my money." Tony sat down on the other chair and then turned to Ray. "Oh, we did it. We figured it out. Bruce and I, of course."
"Did what? Figure out how to save me?"
"Obviously. Did you not hear me call myself a savior?"
