(a continuation of 'i love you,' he lied. I realized I'm kinda falling in love w someone who will never love me back bc they're straight so I'm kinda feeling a mood lmao. Anywho enjoy.)
Brandon was an idiot, to put it bluntly. The past six months had left him too much time to think. Him and Henry hadn't spoken a word since his last trip here, and all his friends knew what had happened between them. But now Brandon had realised that letting Henry go was the worse decision. He was in love with him. Not the British accent, not the long hair; him.
And he was terrified. What it felt to cry at night thinking about how he fucked it all up. Staring at his phone whenever he saw Henry's posts on twitter or Instagram pop up. He always watched his videos, it was nice to hear his voice after so long. It always left him sitting at his desk in tears, though.
And Henry wasn't better off. His feelings never ended for Brandon. In fact, he wishes something more would've happened. If Brandon had cheated, left them with a big argument or broke them off with no warning then Henry would feel better because he could hate the man who broke his heart. But he could never hate Brandon.
Over the course of six months, Henry had become a zombie. He was never excited about anything anymore. Every day was the same, wake up at midday, edit his new video or film it, go get food, and then play games for hours on end. He'd started streaming, mainly solo but sometimes Flinders and Kosmik would join him.
There was a change in his plans coming up, though. Vidcon. He went every year to meet up with his friends and this time was no different. He had debated not going, but his friends convinced him not to let one person get in the way of seeing everyone else. And while he agreed, it's very hard to ignore someone who you still love.
Perhaps both of them could forget easier if they weren't constantly reminded that they weren't together. It wasn't always the big things, either, like fans asking why they weren't recording, it was usually the more personal things that stung. Like their friends organising recording sessions with both of them and one of them awkwardly leaving the call. Or asking one of their friends to call or do anything, really, and the reply being that they were with the other boy.
Henry sat at his desk, eyes boring ahead at his screen. He was leaving in 20 minutes for Vidcon. He was really debating not going. Wasting all that money because right now, he really did not want to see Brandon.
It wasn't even like there was an odd chance he'd see him at the convention- they would be staying in the same house and going to the meet up as a group. These things had been decided before they had broken up and honestly neither of them had thought about how they'd have to be so close until now.
If Ani wasn't with him, Brandon probably would've pussied out too. But, luckily for him, she was there to pull him along.
"You don't even have to speak to him, or look at him or do anything." She said as they waited at the airport. They were sat on one of the benches, being the only two there. They were waiting for Hoover, Diesel, Kwite, Henry and Flinders, as all their flights came in at similar times it made more sense for them to wait and go to the house in a group.
Henry shuffled out of his gate, walking towards their meeting spot. He stopped when he saw he was the first one after Ani and Brandon. Too late now, he couldn't turn back and hop on the plane. Flinders pushed his shoulder, stepping forward.
"Come on, man. You can't avoid forever."
"Y'know, you are incredibly stupid most of the time. But on rare occasions, you are slightly helpful." Henry said, smirking at Flinders.
"Shut the fuck up." He laughed as they reached the group.
"Henry!" Ani said loudly, standing up. She wobbles for a moment on her leg, and Henry feels guilt wash over him and he frowns, looking at the floor. "You still feel bad?" He nodded silently, causing Ani to let out a sigh. She wrapped her arms around him, pulling him into a hug.
"I've missed you." Henry admits, leaning down to accept her hug. They pull away after a few seconds. Ani hums.
"It's been too long." She agrees.
----------
Much later on, Henry found himself a little bit drunk. It was the early hours of the morning, he was with all his friends for the first time in a long time and drinks were being passed around so of course he ended up not sober.
It didn't help that whenever he caught eyes with Brandon- which happened a lot more than it should've- he wanted to curl into a ball and die. To put it bluntly.
The sun was beginning to rise when they all decided to head off to bed, some more drunk than others, some more tired than others. Henry fell in amongst the more drunk.
He wasn't that tired now. The alcohol in his system was pumping him up. Really, he wanted to go out somewhere but everyone was tired, leaving to go up to bed.
Henry decided against it. He'd seen his room earlier and it was cold, whereas down here was warmer since everyone had been sitting around. He settled into his chair, pulling his phone out. He failed to notice the last presence remaining in the room.
Brandon leaned his elbow on his knee, smushing his fist into his face to rest it there. His gaze stayed on the boy across the room. Henry was sat- well, more like laid- across an arm chair, his back against one arm rest and his legs over the other side. He was focused on his phone, scrolling down twitter.
Henry felt eyes on him and he shifted his glance from his phone to across the room. He started slightly when he saw Brandon.
"Oh. I thought everyone had gone to bed." He muttered, loud enough for Brandon to hear. Henry looked down.
"I can go if you want." Brandon offered, though it came out awkwardly.
"No! No, it's fine. I'm just staying here cause my rooms cold." Brandon nodded at his words, remembering how much Henry liked to stay in his bed for the reason that everywhere else was cold. His heart stung. It went silent again. Henry picked up his phone but he couldn't really focus. He wasn't sure if it was courage from him or the drinks but he plucked up enough of it to ask a question.
"Did you... Regret being with me?" The words seemed loud though he was speaking quiet. He wished he never said anything as silence washed back over the room for a few seconds.
"No." He answered bluntly. He tilted his head, eyes meeting Henry's and he feels his own get wet with tears. He prays Henry is too tipsy and too far away for him to see the glint. "You were the best thing that happened to me."
"Did you work out if it was love?" Henry asks after a few minutes. It takes him a while to build up the confidence, and even though the chances Brandon says it wasn't love are high, he has to know.
"Yeah." Brandon sighed. He can't believe he's saying this. This is probably some joke Henry's playing on him- a way to get back at him for breaking them up. He's gonna get him to spill all his feelings and then he's gonna trample all over them. Yet, he can't stop himself from speaking. Even if this is a cruel joke, Henry has to know how he feels at all costs. "I was in love. I am in love. But I think I've left it too late." Brandon admits. He tries to justify why he's saying all this with the reasoning that Henry is drunk and won't remember this later. But in his head he knows Henry isn't drunk enough and neither is he right now.
"Oh yeah?" Henry smiled a bit, the corner of his mouth quirking up. Brandon sighed, tilting his head back against the couch and closing his eyes.
"Yeah." He replies, nearly a whisper. Any minute now Henry will say he doesn't love him anymore. He'll step on his feelings. Break his heart.
Instead, Brandon feels pressure on his legs. He furrows his eyebrows, opening his eyes and tilting his head down. A blush covers his cheeks as he comes face to face with Henry straddling him. He doesn't get a chance to say a word because the familiar feeling of his lips is already meeting his own. Brandon's hands fly to his waist to hold him and he can't believe they're doing this again.
Brandon pulls back, breathing heavy. He rests his forehead against Henry's.
"I love you." He smiles. Their lips are so close he can feel his breath and it's so perfect.
"I love you too." A tear falls down Henry's face and he burrows his head into the younger's shoulder. "I missed you so much."
"I missed you too." Brandon breathed out, squeezing Henry in a hug. Everything was finally back in place again.
