The rising sun shone dimly upon the slender torso of Sage Gill, as she stalked through Diagon Alley, alone in the physical sense of the word but anything but so in her mind. She had just left the place she had made her home, an island off the coast of Ireland called Inis Mór, leaving her son Noah Gill and friends she now knew as her family behind her. The way she saw it, it was only for a small period of time. She would be back to them and back to her new normality within a day or so. If she had it her way, she wouldn't have left at all. But she knew there had to be a good reason for Remus Lupin of all people to request to speak to her.
The year was 1994 and Sage hadn't spoken to Remus in person since eleven years previous, on the cusp of 1984. They had a history. An extensive one, one that Sage had spent the past decade trying to sever all ties with. But it was a history nonetheless and the woman felt as though she owed it to that history to hear out whatever it was he was going to speak about. Moreover, she needed to know.
She needed to know if the father of her son had been placed back in prison to rot away and live the remainder of his life in hell.
That evidenced their history as Sage Gill and Remus Lupin used to be best friends. At the beginning of her first year in Hogwarts, Sage was nervous, more nervous than she would ever have let on. The only way to appear less nervous was to surround herself with people who were even more nervous than her. Prina Adhani and Remus Lupin were the perfect choices. Both saw themselves as outcasts, Prina being Indian and having the ability to speak to versions of her dead ancestors, and Remus being a werewolf and not thinking he was worthy of his place in Hogwarts. The three were friends, throughout their whole time in school, just not as close as they were at the start.
Sage always claimed that Sirius Black stole Remus away from her just to spite her. She voiced that opinion in a sarcastic manner but really she wouldn't have been surprised if it was the truth. At the age of fourteen, she never trusted Sirius. His family were staunch supporters of the Dark Lord Voldemort even when he wasn't in power. For him to be so adamant on being an outlier was a giant red flag for the girl. But, when she finally allowed herself to get to know him, she realised that his years of taunting and poking fun at her was because of a crush that blossomed into a romance. They were in love, or so Sage thought, to the extent that she didn't abort the child that was theirs even after finding out that he was responsible for the death of some of her closest friends.
