“Are we there yet?” I asked bored and tilted my head so I could watch my mother drive. She bit her lips for some reason, as she was nervous.

What could she be nervous for, I was the one starting at a new school?

“In two minutes, honey.” she finally answered after seconds of hesitation. My mother brushed her long brown hair away. I had the same color as her, but she had longer. All the way down to her waist where it ended in waves. It actually suited her even though she looked like a modern hippie.

I had noticed a change in her mood. She was frantic and nervous, as if she was driving the way to Hell to drop me off. Eh, didn’t care if we would end up in Hell, I would end up there anyway, shocker isn’t it?

Anyways, my mother was acting more weird than she usually were. She was holding the steer with a firm grip, continuously biting her lips and flipping her hair.

Now, I was getting nervous. Where the hell were we heading for anyway? We had been driving for at least twenty minutes, and all I could see were farms and cows humping each other out it in the open.

“Are we there yet?” I asked again and gazed out of the window since watching my mother just made me a bit nervous. But what I saw wasn’t any better.

Trees everywhere. Cows everywhere. Horses everywhere. I think I saw chickens running each other down out there too.

Everything that had something to do with the wildlife was out there.

The brochure told me nothing about where the school was. I hoped we wouldn’t end up in some farm with nothing but hillbillies and rednecks to teach us how to saddle up our horses and milk our freaking cows.

Oh hell no, I would walk every mile back home if that was the case.

“Soon, be patient.” my mother answered fast, very fast actually. I furrowed my brows and looked at her suspiciously.

What was she up to?

I looked at her like that a few minutes. My eyebrows turning slowly to a mono, my eyes locked at her profile. “Mom,” I dragged the word. “What are you up to?”

“What do you mean?” my mom answered fast again.  “We’re here!” my mother stopped the car, opened the door and practically ran out.

“What?” I looked up. “Mom, that’s a church.” I smiled disbelievingly at her. This couldn’t possibly be my new school. The big brown tower and buildings around it were ugly as fuck, and the crosses everywhere didn’t make it better somehow.

The big church at Far East side made me swallow hard.

Was my mother forcing me to join a cult?

Over my gorgeous dead body, I thought angrily and got out of the car. I was wearing denim shorts, a black shirt tugged inside it and sunglasses. My white DNA sneakers got dirty because of the sand that covered up the front of the school.

I brushed my brown waving hair away and went to my mother. She stood in front of the big gates.

And then I noticed it.

There were walls covering the buildings inside, as if it was a freaking jail. Not only that, but the walls were at least six meters tall.

The idea of ‘cult’ just became a very real possibility.

“That must be our new student.” a soft feminine voice said and I turned to look at person who owned it.

My eyes got huge and I swallowed hard.
