I am back up on this book..I think that this will be an inspiration to some.
Yesterday I had to run for 2 1/2k...usually I would get an asthma attack, or have extreme cramps and pain...my usual tiime would be finished at 13:00...
Anyways, as I was finishing my 1k and as I heard the time '5:00' I was heading off the round about when I felt like an asthma attack was about to come...which is when my friend came and we ran halfway then he felt nauseaous and so we took a small break.
At 10:02 we reached the 2k...now the girls were lining up to go, my friend was feeling sicker and she went to sit...I did not know what to do, whether to conttinue on or not but I stayed with him.
I told him,
"If you quit now, you'll never be able to take it back. If you quit now, then how will you be able to get it off your back? I know that you can do this, because you did it before...we only have 1/2 a k to finish and all we have is 3 minutes to do it in. Take a deep breath, wait a second and let us continue on."
By that time the coach told him not to continue on if he was feeling really sick, but I convinced her otherwise.
As we were running, my friend felt sicker....he felt as if he was going o throw up but I convinced him to jog the rest. And I finished at '13:99' while he finished off at '14:02'
Throughout it all, I kept telling him encouraging and motivating words motivating him to continue on. It was a difficult day for the both of us since I had not eaten anything, and I did have an asthma attack but did not tell him because he would have a reason to stop.
At the end of the day, whether I overpushed him or not. Whether we made it in the usual time or not. What matters is that we did it, and we did it together. Friends should be there for each other, should have each others' back...but he does not usually be by my side, yesterday was a different day.
The coaches were all proud of me, and kept smiling at me like I saved someone's life or something. Then my coach, which he usually tells me that I need to pace myself, told me that I did great that day and I told him 'It was not I who did great, today, it was Allah who gave me the power to continue on and it was motivation that told me not to quit." At that, I will ask you to:
