Feeling like a failure?

As I finished off the conversation with my teacher telling me how proud she is of having me finish the 3k in 19:02 minutes I thanked her and left. Everyone was in the gymnasium since we had just finished the big summative of running 3k, I was walkong towards a random group of people to talk to them- that is the kind of person I am, talking to anyone and everyone.

Anyways, as I was walking towards the group of random people I saw a girl sitting down on the floor, beside the gymnasium doors, with her head on her knees and she was holding tightly onto her legs with her hands.

"Hey, you okay?"

I asked her, she did not look up but knew who I was since I was known as an athlete- I do not know why, I do not join sports, but I have to admit of my ability to do many push-ups, sit-ups, crunches, running rapidly, etc.

"Yeah, I am alright."

I could tell from her voice that she was crying recently due to the fact that it was hoarse.

"I know that there is a problem, please tell me what the problem is."

I told her after sitting beside her and tapping lightly on her shoulders.

"I did not do well on the summative."

"What did you get?"

"I failed..." she broke down crying hysterically, "I got a 30:02 for 3k." She was still hysterically crying and could not seem to stop.

"Listen to me, it does not matter what you got. Your mark does not matter, the only thing that matters is that you tried your best."

"I did."

She hiccuped and interrupted me

"Well since you did try your best just know that yoir mark does not decide your fate, some are good at basketball like LeBron James, others are good at art like Pinocchio, and some are magicians like Houdini. It just so happens that you are not good at running, but everyone is here for a reason. Everyone has something that they are talented at, I am talented at many things like Poetry, writing, and excersicing. You will find a talent that you are good at, I will help you find your talent."

"Thank you, you are very nice." She hiccuped, "You cheered me up."

And with that she smiled and got up to go to her third period class.

I was happy that I cheered someone up because at the end of the day it does not matter whether I aced a summative or test it matters that I made a difference in someone's life.
