"Have you talked to Mateo?" X asked his teammate Jose. The two had been hitting it off more and more since X and Mateo fell out. Jose and X had hoped that Mateo and X would squash the beef and return to their friendship.
Jose sighed as he took a sip of his beer, "yeah, he's good. Baby's good. He's just fulfilling dad duties. He's actually coming back this week though. It's crazy how quick those few weeks flew by."
X nodded. "That's what's up."
"Have you reached out to him again?" Jose questioned as X took a swig of his beer. He shook his head no. "I'm going to though."
Jose nodded letting him know that was a good idea. "How's everything with Sofia staying with you?" Jose laughed as he asked. He couldn't believe that X took her in and he told him it was a bad look if he was trying to get back cool with X after what she did, but he understood that X had a good heart and couldn't just let her be on the streets.
X shook his head as he sighed. "I think it was a bad idea." He let out. This intrigued Jose, "why?"
X leaned forward, "the first night she came on to me. I cooked because I was hungry and being nice since she was there and I think she thought it was something that it wasn't. And lately it's like she tries to throw little hints. She'll walk around the house with hardly any clothes on. I don't know if I gave her the wrong impression or what. But she used to mess with my boy and I don't get down like that. Especially after I put them on."
"Damn, yeah you need to nip that in the butt. There's no one else she can stay with?"
"I asked her about her cousin but she acts like it's the worse thing in the world, I might reach out to her cousin myself before anymore lines try to get crossed. She's not working so money wise she can't just get her own place."
"Is she looking for work?" X shrugged. "She's supposed to be, I feel like she can at least work at her cousins boutique but she's not trying to do that."
Jose laughed, "does she not realize she's broke? That she doesn't really have that many options to be turning down stuff? Or what? You giving her money."
X didn't say anything. "Xavier man, you enabling her. That's probably why she's coming on to you. Feeling like she owes you or you making her feel like you two can be something."
"What am I supposed to do?"
"Man you can tell her food and drinks at the house are free game, shoot you can pay for Uber's if she's actually job hunting, that's if she doesn't have a car I don't know that situation. Or only provide gas money with proof that she's been out job hunting. You can't just be giving to her. I understand if you give her a lump sum before kicking her ass out, cause that's helping her find somewhere to stay and making sure she eats. But she's in your house, no reason you need to be giving her money."
Xavier nodded in understanding, he didn't think about it like that but Jose had a point. "You right."
"Now she's not going to be happy about you stopping the cash flow but you just going to have to explain it to her and give her a time limit in which she has to be out your house. Mateo babied her too much, that's why she never found a job in my opinion. She wants a quick buck like she was used to him giving her but reality has to set in for that girl, she ain't with a millionaire no more. She has to live within her means. I can't believe she wasn't saving up money." Jose shook his head not understanding how one could be so dumb.
X shook his head too as he let out a deep breath. "That is wild. But enough of that, catch me up on you."
X and Jose sat talking for awhile and as soon as they were about to head out Mateo walked through the door. "Mateo!" Jose called out with a smile. X turned looking to where Jose was looking as he met eye contact with Mateo.
