As those words left Marinette's mouth, she glanced desperately at Luka. Her sky blue eyes glimmering in anticipation. Her face seemed more relaxed now than before. Luka couldn't do or say anything but feel confused. He didn't know how to respond. His mind had completely stopped and drawn a blank. It was swirling with thoughts, and it was hard to focus on a clear answer. Luka could sense fear and stress mixing in his stomach, filling it with a queasy feeling. Eventually he found the words to at least speak, but he still felt weary about what he was going to say.

"Um... Marinette," Luka's throat felt dry. It seemed as if all the words in his mind were fading away. "I... actually do like someone else. I'm sorry but I can't really see you as anything else but a friend, Marinette," His voice trailed away. All the words slipped off Luka's tongue, rolled onto the ground, and fell in the nonexistent void.

A glint of hurt flashed in Marinette's previously pleading eyes. An urge pushed Luka to speak, but Marinette was quicker. She stood up, visibly shaking. She glanced over at Luka in disbelief, her eyes glassy and her face turning red. She was breathing quickly and staring at Luka like he had betrayed her. She was about to cry. Luka was going to make Marinette cry. Luka's stress increased. Marinette turned around and started to run away.

In a desperate attempt to explain before she was out of Luka's sight he cried out her name, "Marinette!"

But it was too late. He had broken Marinette's heart, one of the most creative and caring friends he'd ever had. Luka felt awful as he stood there, feeling broken himself. What's going to happen now?

The ravenette closed her eyes and ran. Marinette didn't know where she was going. She just wanted to go somewhere. She could feel tears flowing down her cheeks as she ran, and how her breaths quickened once in a while. She finally stopped in the girls bathroom and ran toward and hastily slipped into a stall. She sat down on the lid of the toilet, buried her face into her hands and began to sob. I'm so stupid... why did I say that...? Now Luka won't even want to be my friend anymore... She started to sob harder. It was catching the attention of some people nearby, as it was extremely noticeable and loud. Marinette couldn't help herself from letting out pitiful sobs. At that time, she didn't care about what people thought. She just wanted the pain and sorrow to disappear. She wanted things to go back to before she asked Luka that stupid question. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Just then familiar footsteps sounded as a person entered the washrooms.

"Marinette!" Alya cried out.

Alya... Marinette let out a small hic which alerted her of where she was.

"Oh girl," She followed the sound of Marinette's sharp and wistful breathing.

She eventually found the stall Marinette was in and hesitantly opened the creaky door. There Alya found a teary, sorrowful mess. Alya inhaled for a couple of moments, before hurrying over to Marinette and giving her a wholesome hug.

"I'm so sorry, Marinette," Alya whispered delicately. Marinette began to cry again, her fragile bluebell eyes clouding once more with emotions.

"Let it all out girl... when you're ready to talk I'll be here," Alya breathed, trying to comfort Marinette.

Marinette began to sob again, but this time with more control. Marinette poured her emotions and sorrow out, hoping if they were gone she would feel less pain. But life isn't that easy, and she knew she would need to face the agony anyway.

Somewhere in Paris, a dark figure stood with wicked intentions and a ghastly aura.

As the cover above him began to open, he smiled maliciously. "Ah, the bitterness of a confession rejected. Such sorrow, perfect for my vile akuma."

He turned to one of the countless white butterflies in the area, and extended a hand. The closest butterfly nearby landed softly on his hand. He closed his hand into a fist, as darkness surrounded the once neutral butterfly. Now turned into an akuma, it began to flutter away until it was no longer visible clearly within sight.

As it flew, the man cackled, "Fly away my little akuma, and evilize this heartbroken young girl!"

The man's name was Hawk Moth, the biggest threat to Paris currently. As always, he was out to steal the miraculous' of Ladybug and Cat Noir. He has akumatized many victims before, but this time he was out to take advantage of poor Marinette's broken heart.
