Epilogue | The World and the Clouds

   It's been a while. The moon shone with powerful luminosity, scattering moonlight across the porch. Crickets chirped silently and the air was still. It was quite a peaceful night. It was around midnight and the sky-blue eyed ravenette couldn't manage to fall asleep, so she spent her time outside on her tiny porch until she got tired. She held her phone in her hand as she stared briefly at the murky pond we called the sky above her.

As she said, it's been a while. Marinette recollected her thoughts about that day. The day it was confirmed she had no absolute chance of being with either of them. Luka came to her sometime in the evening very close to the time Ms. Bustier said they had to be back by and told her everything. Everything. About how he found Adrien near the rocky area a little way off of the main gravel beach. About how he confessed his feelings. About how Adrien accepted them. About how they kissed. So yeah, everything. It still pinched her heart a bit to think about it, but she'll get over it eventually. That's just life.

After that incident happened, Luka asked Marinette to keep their relationship a secret because they weren't ready to tell everyone about it yet. Coincidentally, a couple of days after that, she was over at the Couffaine household with a couple of other girls and walked in on Rose and Juleka cuddling in Juleka's room. From their reactions, Marinette could tell this was more than friends. They also asked for her to keep it a secret. So now she knew both Couffaine secrets, ironically enough.

Speaking of rooms, her room was looking quite empty after she removed all remains of Adrien's presence there. Another part of why she was outside so late, staring hopelessly at the sky, was because she also wanted to find another inspiration for her designs. Whenever she was working on anything, she usually kept Adrien, or Luka now that she thought about it, in mind. Now that they were both with each other, Marinette only found it right to stop obsessing over them. The sky didn't really give her inspiration for anything, but it still looked gorgeous. There were so many stars scattered around, it looked almost like someone took a black canvas and spread white paint randomly everywhere.

Ding! She heard a quick sound while her phone vibrated for a few seconds to alert her that she had a new notification. She opened her phone and saw that the message was from Luka.

   Marinette smiled softly. Even though she had to sacrifice her current happiness for the happiness of others, it would be alright. She'll find happiness again eventually. One time, Adrien and her were talking a short while after he had got with Luka secretly, and she recalled what he said,

"Before I couldn't have my own world. I couldn't see anything, because I felt blocked off from it. But now, I can see it clearly. Luka's removing that wall that separates me from the world. I guess... he's my world now." He didn't realize what he said at first, but afterwards his face flushed immediately and he apologized to her. "Oh, sorry! This is probably getting a bit cheesy isn't it? Just forget it."

He's my whole world, she remembered his exact words. Marinette generally understood what those words meant, but by the way Adrien was speaking they probably had a deeper meaning than what was on the surface. She thought about it for a while before giving up. Well whatever, Marinette concluded as she thought it was best to not overthink it. She could be completely wrong anyways. Anything that happened from here forth was the future, and it was better to let it just happen rather than spend her life analyzing and predicting it. Glancing towards the night sky once more, she admired it and enjoyed all of the peace it brang. Only time will tell what happens from now. As Ladybug, and as Marinette.
