It was a painfully long ride to God knows where. Gun was sitting on the front seat, staring blankly on the road ahead. He had cried enough and now his body was numb, drained of all emotions.
"Were here" his father said as the car came to a halt but the boy still sat there, unmoving.
"Hey" the man tap his shoulder which made him flinch a bit. "Lets go"
Gun just nodded slightly before going out of the car. He stood there for a moment, gazing at the house which looked more like a mansion. It was big and beautiful but it wasn't his home.
"Lets go". The man gently pushed him when he saw how he just stood still. Gun walked slowly, hesitating with every step he took.
Upon entering the house, he was immediately welcomed with the sight of a woman sitting on the couch hugging what seems like a picture frame. Her eyes darted towards him and a wide, almost eerie smile painted her lips. She gently put down the frame and immediately walked towards them.
"Honey is this him?" she asked the man without even looking at him as her eyes was busy scanning the vapid boy. The man just nodded as he went to sit on the couch. "How are you? I'm so happy to see you"
"Im fine" Gun replied and the woman hugged him befire gently rubbing his back which sends shiver down his spine. He felt a little bit uneasy but still managed to gave an enervated smile.
"Have you eaten yet? I made dinner" the woman said as she gently pulled him to the dinning area but Gun refused to move.
"I'm sorry but I'm tired. Can I please go to bed?" He asked with an apologetic tone. It was never his nature to turn someone down but he felt that his emotions were about to blow up and his body might not be able to handle it anymore. He was so tired that he felt like he could sleep forever.
"Yes, come. I'll show you your new room" the woman said in understanding as she kept on nodding profusely. Gun wasn't sure if it was just her usual behavior or the woman was overly enthusiastic with the way she move and speak.
"This will be your new room. Do you like it?" the woman was beaming with excitement as she flicked the light open. Gun was blinded with the sudden brightness of the room and when his eyes adjusted, he saw all the things inside the of it. It was full of trophies, and medals, and basketball stuffs like a Chicago Bulls flag, and posters of Derrick Rose and Michael Jordan. Whoever owned this room sure likes basketball a whole lot.
"I kept this the way you left it" the woman said which made Gun confused. He was about to ask what she meant by that but the woman continued speaking. "Here, change your clothes" she handed him a pair of pyjamas and made him sit on the bed. She then helped him take off his shirt before putting on the new one. Gun wants to protest and tell her that he can do it by himself but he was so tired and a part of him likes the care and attention he was getting. It gives him warmth on the inside that he didnt even realized the tears that fell from the corners of his eyes. Gun leaned to hug her as his tears continued falling.
"Goodnight" the woman said after tucking him to bed. Gun's eyelids were so heavy so he just closed his eyes and nodded lazily as she walked out of the room. "Welcome back baby" the woman said before closing the door behind her. Gun was confused with what she said but he was too sleepy to think about it.
The next day, Gun woke up feeling anxious. He looked at his surroundings with eyebrows knitted together.
"Did you sleep well?" Gun was startled when the woman suddenly talked. She was standing by the door with the same wide smile on her face. Gun just nodded, feeling a little bit creeped out. "We'll be waiting for you at the kitchen. Lets eat together" she said before going ahead. Despite the couple only showing him kindness, Gun can't help but still feel uncomfortable around them.
