A/N: long(er) chapter, enjoy
"Are you and Jisoo dating? I heard from Lisa this morning," Dara finished her simple makeup and smiled casually at Jennie through the vanity mirror. Her daughter, on the other hand, was still struggling with her choice of clothes, bare-faced and messy-haired.
Half ignoring her mother, Jennie reached the end of her meagre collection of dresses for the umpteenth time and she finally gave up, fishing out the little black dress she had worn on her first night out with Jisoo. "Take whatever Lisa says with a pinch of salt, Mom. How does this look?" She dangled the dress in front of her body.
Dara scrunched up her nose. "It's a little revealing, here and here," she pointed to the off-shoulder and the hole around a side of the waist, then nodded left and right, "but other than that, it's stunning. Didn't know you own a piece like this."
"Thanks? I guess," Jennie chuckled and began changing into it. The en-suite bathroom was not necessary, since they have lived together in places with a lot less privacy.
To save time, Dara worked on Jennie's hair while the seated brunette started on her makeup at the vanity table.
"Jisoo's leaving on Saturday."
"Yes, Mom, I haven't forgotten," Jennie sounded nonchalant as she shadowed her eyes.
Dara let out a bitterly amused grin as she curled the brown locks, "Why dance with fire if you know it'll surely burn?"
"Because," Jennie paused, "when it extinguishes, I'll have something to remember her by – if not the dance, then at least the scars."
Dara raked her fingers down the tails of the tresses and they curled daintily around Jennie's neck and shoulders. She looked like she had something to say but settled on a motherly smile instead.
Jennie patted Dara's hand that lay on her shoulder. "I'll be okay." She looked at the clock for a change in topic, "Look, we're right on time. Shall we?"
She pointed a thumb towards the bedroom door with a cheeky smile, and it worked because Dara joked, "Yep, well, let's hope this dinner doesn't burn too."
Donning a simple white tee under a tight grey blazer with matching pinstripe pants, Jisoo was sliding on her heels at the main atrium when she heard their laughter approaching. She looked up and beamed in just the way that flipped Jennie's heart each time.
"My, my, someone is feeling and looking mighty fine," Jisoo smirked and Jennie rolled her eyes with burning cheeks.
"Don't pretend you've not seen me in this before, perv."
"And I've seen you out of it, too," Jisoo leant in for a well-timed whisper, right when Dara's back was towards her as the lady busied with finding her heels.
"Shoo, you're in my way, distracting me and all." Shoving the raven's chest playfully away, Jennie suppressed a smile and tried to think of the stars and the cool breeze and flowers and birds to chase away the heat in her face.
"You're the one distracting me, lady," Jisoo winked, and then turned to Dara. "But I'll try to keep my eyes on the road, right, Ms. Park?"
Dara shot the couple a bemused grin and chuckled, "You better."
"If you don't," Jennie bopped Jisoo's nose, threatening, "I'll sit in the back."
"There's such a thing as a rearview mirror, Jen, my eyes can still wander," Jisoo teased with a cocked eyebrow and Jennie immediately blushed, embarrassed. "Besides, who wants you to sit in the front anyway?"
