Sans POV
"SANS! GET UP LAZYBONES, WE'RE GOING TO BE LATE FOR SCHOOL!" "School doesn't start in a few minutes bro," Sans mummbled as his tried to tune out his brother's voice. Unlike Papyrus, Sans was a lazy bones, and would mostly prefer to sleep longer rather than wake up early. Then after a few minutes, the pillow which Sans head was resting on, was swiped away. "Hey!" Sans opened his eyes and sat up. "C'MON BRO! YOU KNOW HOW IT IS WHEN I'M GOING TO SCHOOL! I WANT TO BE READY!" Sans rubbed his eyes. His eyes darted around the room until he saw a brown teddy bear on his small desk near the lamp. Sans grabbed it and hold it up for Papyrus to see. Then with his eyes closed he said "C'mon bro it's too early for that. Besides I'm BEARly awake, now if you don't mind..." Sans fell back onto the bed. He was nearly fast asleep at last when Papyrus threw the pillow he held on Sans' face. "NO PUNS IN THE MORNING AND GET UP!" "Okay, okay I'll get ready!" Sans finally said as he got ready for school.___
Papyrus cheerfully sat down in the living room while waiting for Sans. When Sans finally came down from the stairs, Papyrus looked at him. "SANS, DON'T YOU THINK IT'S TIME FOR YOU TO CHANGE?" Sans raised his hands up. "What do you mean? I change everyday!" Papyrus shook his head. "NO NOT THAT. I MEAN PHYSICALLY. WHAT I'M TRYING TO SAY IS DO YOU REALLY HAVE TO WEAR THAT JACKET EVERYTIME WE GO OUTSIDE?" Sans looked down at his blue jacket that he was wearing. He had a very good reason why he did but he didn't want to tell anyone what it is. So Sans just shrugged his shoulders and said "Why not? It's cool." "NEVERMIND! ANYWAYS, I PACKED YOUR BAG FOR YOU SINCE YOU WERE SO SLOW." Papyrus handed Sans his bag and Sans gratefully took it. "Thanks bro." "SANS IF YOU DON'T MIND COULD YOU TELEPORT US TO SCHOOL?" Sans sent his brother a questioning look. "What's the rush?" "I JUST WANT TO MAKE A GOOD IMPRESSION TO UNDYNE. I'M SURE SHE WILL BE VERY HAPPY THAT I ARRIVE THERE EARLY!" Sans grasped the handle of his bag. "Well the thing is bro, it's still kind of too early but not too early for me to take another pun..." Sans raised a finger, signaling to Papyrus that he was going to make another pun but Papyrus quickly caught up and put his hand over Sans' mouth. "NOT ANOTHER PUN SANS!" Sans giggled. "I was just kidding. Anyways, what I mean to say is my magic probably isn't strong enough to teleport us to school, at least not in the morning. What I could do right now is teleport us halfway near the school." Papyrus looked at Sans first then looked at the clock. "I SUPPOSE THAT WOULD DO. OKAY SANS, DO WHAT YOU MUST DO!" Papyrus hold onto his brother's hand while his other hand grasped his bag. He had to hold Sans or else he won't teleport togther with him. Sans closed his eyes and visioned the park, which was half way near the school. Then suddenly he felt he ground changed. The greyish white snooth tiles that he stood on changed to soft green grass. Sans opened his eyes and he and his brother were at the entrance to the park. Papyrus patted his brother's back. "GOOD JOB SANS! I DOUBTED YOU FOR A SECOND." Sans sent his brother a teasing smile. "Doubted me? Want another p-" "NO!"
________
Sans and Papyrus walked for a while until they finally reached the school. It was 7:30 when they arrived there. There were a few students there, chilling or doing doing their homework before classes start. "See? I told you bro, we were kind of a bit early," Sans said casually. "THE LAST TIME I LET YOU SLEEP LONG WE REALLY DID ENDED UP BEING LATE." "Hmm welp, fair enough. I guess I'll let you have this one bro. Anyways since we're early I'm going to go ahead and find some ketchup." Sans then waved bye to Papyrus and headed to his locker. Sometimes he would hide some ketchup in his locker and sneak some before and after class. He opened his locker with the key he had in his pocket. When he opened his locker on top row were 2 packs of ketchup. One lost its balance and nearly fell but Sans quickly caught it, opened its cap and began to drink it. Suddenly he heard footsteps walking down the hallway towards him. One soft and gentle and the other small but strong. Sans turned to see Toriel and Chara heading his way. "Hey Tori...Hi Chara." When he said the word Chara, Sans had to pause for a while. Chara looked down at her feet. "Hi." She managed to say through gritted teeth. Toriel however, didn't seem to notice the tension between the two. She cleared her throat. "Chara, why don't you bring my bag back to the faculty." Toriel handed Chara her bag and Chara obediently did as she was told. Once Chara was gone Sans said "Tori you seem early today. Usually you come to school a little latte." Toriel immediately laughed at his pun. Before Frisk arrived at the school, Toriel was Sans audience to puns. She would laugh at his ridiculous puns and she would sometimes even share her own. She was a great pun partner in Sans opinion. "That was a good one Sans," Toriel said between giggles. "Maybe next time you should try and give me a tu-toriel!" "Hey!" Once they both calmed down, Toriel had a serious look on her face. "Sans, I've noticed you've been hanging out a lot with Frisk lately." Sans looked out the window where a tree stood. The sky still had that pink, yellow and orange color to it. "Are you asking me to stay away from her?" Sans asked, his voice sounding worried. "It's not because of that human monster rule is it?"Toriel waved her hands in the air in front of Sans' face. "No, no, no, no, no. Not at all. She seemed to be enjoying hanging out with you and so with her other friends. There's just...one favor I wanted to ask you." Sans shuffled his feet on the ground. "What is it?" Toriel took a deep breath. "Could you please watch over her, look after her y'know? I just...want her to be safe. I don't want her to get hurt and I want her to be happy. Could you please promise that?" Sans got taken aback when Toriel said the word promise. Sans hated promises. Because it was like a rule you had to follow. And he wasn't that very good at keeping promises. But then he thought about the times he had hung out with Frisk. And all the times he had seen her smile whenever they hung out. He remembered the first time they met, how Frisk was his first classmate who had somehow enjoyed his puns and even laughed at them. And now Toriel is offering him a promise to watch over her? Would it even be worth it? After a long silence Toriel gave a sad sigh. "I understand. I know you ha-" "I'll do it." Toriel did a double take. "W-wait what?" "I said I'll do it. I promise to watch over her just like you asked." Toriel was shocked that she just stood there silently for a few minutes. Then after, a smile came into her face. "Thank you Sans. I better hurry now." After saying their goodbyes Toriel walked down the hallway. When Toriel turned a corner, a minute later, a shadow appeared. In the shadows, for some reason, the person's eyes seem to glow a faint red light. When the person stepped into the light it was Chara. She had crossed her arms and was leaning on the wall. "So...I heard you promised mom to watch over Frisk." Sans smile turned to a frown. "I did. Have you been eavesdropping this while time?" Chara gave Sans a grin. "You know it's been a long time since I've done that. Whatever. Anyways just reminding you one thing." Chara slowly walked towards him and looked at the floor. Then she looked at Sans, her eyes seeming to glow red. "If you ever hurt her, that deal we made back then, it's gone. Your secret, those "stuff" that were supposed to happen, it will become real. I'll allow you to hang out with her but if you make one wrong move..." Sans rolled his eyes. "Yeah, yeah sure. Now get movin Chara." Chara just stood there for a while and then walked slowly down the hallway. "You know the law Sans. All monsters do," Chara said before she left. Sans breathed a sigh of relief. Among all the things, why did Frisk had to be sisters with Chara? Sure she was a good person to monsters but he didn't get along very well with her. At least ever since that incident had happened. Plus then there was this stupid law that had to deal with monster and human magic. Why even make that? Sans shook his head. He did not want to remember that memory. And the law was so complicated. Sometimes he wished the war would end between the humans and monsters. He then drank one sip of his ketchup and placed it in his bag, just in case. "SANS! THERE YOU ARE!" Sans looked down the hall, opposite on where Chara had gone. Papyrus was running towards him panting. "I NEED YOUR HELP WITH SOMETHING...WHERE'S THE KITCHEN? I NEED SOME LAST MINUTE SPAGHETTI!" Sans smiled at his brother. Just like him and his ketchup, Papyrus had a love for spaghetti and he would sometimes head to the kitchen to create some before classes start. "It's just in the cafeteria. You better hurry up though." Papyrus immediately made a dash for it. Sans then pulled his hood down and walked to a nearby bench.
