Tears in My Heart

Reminiscing the good times we had together,
Childhood friend she was,
I reminisce the games we'd play till late,
The lovely voice she'd sing as she led the church in Praise & Worship,
The next day it's a school week building up for her future,
She'd say, Elwin, I'm gonna do all I can to get what I want.
Advice upon advice like one advertising her products she'd say "Boeta jy moet hard werk",

See, my heart filled with tears,
Yet outwardly it can't roll down my chicks,
Reminiscing the laughter we'd share,
Even in your hardest times,
You'd cream up your face with a joke,
A strong woman you were,
Whilst others see you as weak,
You'd work real hard through the week,
You knew just how to make ev'body around you laugh,
Your heart filled with love I felt warm around you,
Little did I know that ev'time we'd laugh about church and encourage each other to keep running the race of faith,
You were drawing closer to your finishing lane.

One that faithfully mothered her kids, even till death.
I saw your faith so bold as you kept pushing,
Though some called you fake,
You made sure their words don't germinate,
Instead you made sure, they're words would fade.
Ousus, dear Helen,
my heart is filled with tears.
One thing I will never forget is how you kept encouraging me.
In fading words.
My heart is filled with tears,
But the faith you've taught me will wipe my tears.
