the year is 2008 and emma swan has just discovered a website called "chicken smoothie". she heads to school and promptly forgets about it, however, for a few years.
after baseball practice she remembers the website and logs on. the website is now thriving with life and furries and gays. she clicks on trade forms and posts "trade with me :)". she gets many offers but she doesn't know whats fair and what isn't so she consults the fair trade thread.
they tell her how all of her trades are trying to scam her and she's shocked. in hopes to never get scammed she learns about the "rares list". it's like a list of rares except furry currency with weird demand. she nods solemly as she learns the sacred system.
then, she gets a trade for her literal just black dog with nothing special about it from evilqueen. it's massive overpay and she accepts. she sends a pm after asking if evilqueen knows this is overpay but evilqueen doesn't respond.
a few months pass and emma forgets about evilqueen. she's decided to become a site famous artist and in one of the drawing forms she sees her. evilqueen has the most liked piece in advanced oekaki with 69969669 likes.
emma is in aww and she vows to be just as good as her one day. they both join a closed species around the same time and i realize as i'm writing there is a very few amount of people who actually understand what all of this means so i'm really limiting my aduiance.
however, this is a story not meant to make sense so i contiune.
emma joins a closed species and looks at the fanclub where she sees evilqueen asking for friends for her ocs. emma dms her but evilqueen doesnt reply again. angered at her lack of responce, emma seeks out the salt blog.
it turns out evilqueen rarely answers pms and she angrily writes salt and submits it. the next morning she checks the blog and it's been posted and it got 20 notes!! she doesn't think much of this and a few weeks pass.
the evilqueen has seemingly dissapeared from the website and now the closed species has a discord. emma joins and there she sees discord user "horse apple" talking joyfully in general chat. she joins in and they talk.
over the weeks emma and horse apple talk and become close. emma needs a specific thing to afford a commission so horse apple sends her a trade with it. but... its evilqueen!!
