"Caroline, why are we at this antique dress store-oh, I see why now! Those dresses are gorgeous!"

Caroline grinned, and shoved me through the doors. A bell jingled, and a saleslady walked over to us.

"Good afternoon, girls! How can I help you today?" the lady said. She looked to be in her late thirties, light blonde hair, grey eyes.

Caroline took the lead, saying, "We need a dress for a VERY fancy dinner, it's at an upscale place? The dress code calls for no higher than ankle length, and we need a mask."

The saleslady smiled, and said, "Well, red, I have the perfect dress with the perfect color to match your hair. Come with me!"

I was whisked away, and she handed me a gorgeous dress to try on.

"Tell me if it fits!" she said through the door.

The dress was a beautiful seafoam green dress. It was one of those dresses with a larger skirt, a little smaller than an encampment skirt but MUCH fancier.

It was absolutely perfect. It had little pink hearts embroidered on the skirt, and I could really see myself wearing this somewhere.

I stepped out, and walked to the front.

"What do you think?" I asked, smiling shyly.

Caroline gasped, and said, "Goodness, it looks like it was MADE for you! It's got a larger skirt, but not too large....Oh, Reese, please get it or else I will."

"Oh, I'm getting it!" I said. "Oh...wait, how much is it?"

The saleslady ran to her computer, clicked a few keys, and said, "It's $150."

I winced. No way my parents would let me buy that.

"Out of my price range.....I wish I could get it, though....it's so pretty," I said wistfully, playing with the fabric.

Out of nowhere, Caroline said, "I'm getting it for you. Consider it a happy halloween."

"What?! OK, for one-"

"No. I'm doing this for you, you're my best friend and I love you, so shut up, dang it and let me buy you this dress!"

I started laughing, and said, "Alright! Thank you, I love you Caroline! You are THE best!"

The saleslady said, "You need masks too, right?"

We nodded, and she said, '"Caroline, go pick out a dress. I'll handle the masks."

I got whisked away to the land of fabrics, while Caroline played dress-up.

Eventually, I settled on a mask that could stay on my head with a piece of fabric, and Caroline got one like that too.

Mine was sea green, and hers was red with lace to match her blood red dress.

"We look amazing!" Caroline shouted, bursting into giggles.

Pro life tip: make sure to find your best friend by high school. Someone who you can mess around with and then be serious a second later. Find someone good, and treat them well. Because if you don't, you'll be left with absolutely nobody to be with except for goons.

It was the night of our dinner, and Caroline and I had just finished our makeup and hair.

We had just done light makeup, and our hair was in ringlets surrounding our faces. If I'm being honest, we looked pretty dang good.

"Ready to go?" Caroline asked me, grinning. "Tonight will be epic."
