Chapter 7

~M'ganns POV~
The titans showed us to the pizza place which they seem to go to quite frequently. We sat down at a table and waited for Cyborg was it to return. "When did you guys form your team" I asked them,wanting to break the silence. The titans looked at one another and Jay groaned. "Well, M'gann you remember when me and Rob left the team" she asked me. I nodded yes in response. "Well, we ended up in jump city,and during all of this Star and Sun here had just escaped from gordanians and crashed right here, in front of this building" Jay explained. "All in one night" Artemis asked. The titans nodded in response. "It took us a while but we eventually were able to work together and become friends" Jay told us. "What I miss?" Cyborg asked, joining us at the table. "Nothing,we were just waiting for you so,we can order" Robin explained. "Thanks,guys" he said smiling. A waiter then came over and asked what we would like. "Two large cheese pizzas,and some cokes" Jay told the waiter. He nodded and walked back into the restaurant. "Hey,Cy what were you going to ask me at the tower" Robin asked Cyborg. "Oh,yeah well, I guess maybe how you guys started" he asked. Me and Artemis looked at each other. We weren't there when they first formed the team. I came on after they first all met,and Artemis came later on like me after I had joined the team. "It first started out with just us four sidekicks,me, robin,Kid flash,and Aqualad" Jay said. That was odd. She usually calls him a nickname like KF. The two told them the entire story about them going to cadmus, finding superboy, first meeting me,and how Artemis came to join the team. Our food and drinks soon came and that's when it began. The titans immediately grabbed a slice and started eating. "We like pizza" Raven stated plainly.  Raven doesn't really ever show much emotion. "It's first come first serve with us" Jay said smiling.  I was becoming more curious by the minute. Why would Robin and Jay create a team that does whatever they feel like. Robin and Jay like to have fun, but this is a whole new level. I decided to set up a link with the rest of the team. We needed to talk this over and figure this out.

~Artemis POV~
M'gann said she was curious about what was going on with Robin and Jay. I can't lie, I'm curious too. Since, the first day I have met them, I have seen them as people who always have a plan. They would mess around every now and then but not like this. Both Kaldur and Conner said that they trust them,and didn't want to get involved. That leaves me, Miss M,and Kid Flash. When we got back to the tower, I watched as all the titans headed off in different directions. Cyborg and Beast boy were playing video games. Raven, Starfire, Sunfire,Robin, and Jay all headed off to their rooms. I went to talk to Jay while Kid Flash went to talk to Robin. I walked down the halls. Luckily,they have their names on their doors so, it wasn't hard for me to find her room. I knocked on her door and waited. I heard some shuffling, and the door soon opened and revealed that she had changed into a different costume. Instead of her dark colors(red,black,and yellow), on her uniform was green,red,yellow, and black. She wore green tights with a red shirt that had short green sleeves,her yellow utility belt,her black mask,and her yellow and black "J" symbol. "What's up Artemis?" she asked me. "I was wondering if I could talk to you" I asked her trying to play it cool. She shrugged and let me in. Luckily,and hopefully she didn't notice Miss M sneak in camouflaged. I looked around her room. It seemed like a dojo. Well, if a dojo had pictures along the walls. She had pictures all along one of the walls in her room. I walked up to get a better look at the pictures and saw that some of them were pictures of her with the titans. There was one showing her with Robin and Batman. There was one picture I didn't recognize. The picture showed a family of four people. There was a mom,dad,and two kids, a boy and a girl. The kids both had black hair and blue eyes. Their parents had the same hair and eyes. The girl had short black hair while her mother had long black hair. I looked at the girl and for some reason she reminded me of someone. It couldn't be her,not Jay. "Artemis, is everything okay?" Jay asked me, snapping me out of thought. "I wanted to ask you about this Ternion guy?" I asked hoping she was believing this. "Ternion is a combination of all three villains. We still have to find Cinderblock and Overload just to be safe. The first time we fought them, one of our villains Slade also known as Deathstroke used electricity to combine the three. It ended up taking us a long time to defeat it." Jay explained. "But you do have a way to defeat them right" I asked curious. "Yep" she said smirking, popping the "p". "Thanks for the information Jay" I told her heading towards the door. "No problem" she said shutting the door. 

Jay sat in her room working on her drawing.  Something felt off about Artemis. Like she was trying to hide something. She pushed the thought aside,and continued to work on her drawing. It was a picture of her family. All of them, mom, dad,cousins,aunt,and uncle. All of the people she lost years ago. This was her way of remembering them. She looked at the clock on her nightstand which read 10:00pm. "Better get to sleep" she thought to herself. She walked into the bathroom and changed into her pajamas. She then removed her mask, climbed into her bed,and soon enough fell fast asleep. But if she stayed awake a little bit longer,what she would have seen was miss martian sneak in camouflaged,and creep towards her. Her job was simple. Read Jay's mind to see and learn the truth about the titans. Her eyes glowed green,and she slowly entered the girl wonder's mind. What she didn't count on was her waking up. Being trained by Batman, Jay felt someone inside her head,and tried to put up a barrier to stop them from getting anything. She may have stopped them,but it didn't stop the nightmares. Nightmares, memories from her past appeared in her mind. Pain and terror filled the teen wonder. Blood curdling screams were heard which awoke everyone in the tower. They ran to the room were the screams were heard. When they got there miss martian was lying on the ground clutching her head,and Jay was sitting on her bed hugging her legs, rocking back and forth. Robin immediately knew what was wrong and ran to her side trying to comfort and help her. Raven walked over to her crying friend. "Jay if you want I can help ease your mind" she said quietly. The terrified girl shook her head no,and said "don't-don't do anything to me".  Robin turned and saw Miss M lying on the ground regaining her bearings. He gritted his teeth in anger. "What did you do to her!?!" Robin yelled at her furious. "Rob calm down will you" Kid flash said to him. "Calm down,If you haven't noticed, Jay's in pain because of you." Robin said becoming angrier by the minute. Robin turned around to see Jay silently whispering to herself in Romanian. He placed his hand on her shoulder not wanting to scare her any more. He allowed her to cry into his chest while trying to bury and forget her pain. "Was this part of you plan?" Superboy asked addressing Artemis,Kid Flash, and Miss M. "what plan?" Beastboy asked him. Both Superboy and Aqualad explained how the three had been suspicious about the titans and wanted to see if they could find the real truth behind the teen titans. "You do not trust the us?" Sunfire asked the three of them. "It's just that the Robin and Jay we knew liked to have fun but they were serious and didn't behave like this." Artemis explained. "Just because they act a little different around us you think that means we did something to them" Raven said. The three just looked at each other and nodded in response. "Why" Jay asked. "Why what"Kid Flash asked her. "Why would you go inside my head when you know that I don't want you to!?" Jay said. "I've told you to stay out of my head. But you couldn't so, you went inside, invaded my privacy and brought back memories that I have tried so hard to move on from!" she said now yelling. She reached over her bed trying to grab her mask. Raven handed it to her,and she quickly put it on.  "Jay we're" Artemis tried to say. But Jay cut her off. "I just need some time so please,just leave me alone" she said never looking them in the face.

The team walked out of the room leaving the titans in peace. Jay reached up and removed her mask. The titans had found out their identity some time ago.  They now knew each of their secret identities. "How could they do that to me without knowing how dangerous it could have been?" Jay asked. "I guess I do act differently with you guys but is that such a bad thing?" Jay asked again. "Jay, uh Emily what did you see?" Beast boy asked. Emily Grayson closed her eyes thinking about it. "My time in the circus" was all she said. The titans all stared at her thinking about the stories they told them. "Mostly their death,and the bullying" she said. Back then in the circus, older kids were pick on the younger Emily and there were times when things would go far as they would try to kill her. The worst one for her was when a family came up to her started yelling at her then the father slapped her,and the son beat her. She was treated this way as people saw her as a freak due to her acting just like a guy. Emily wasn't the ideal, stereotypical type of girl. "Emily, I promise you that will never happen again" Robin said squeezing her hand. She smiled at him thanking him for the reassurance. "Tomorrow morning we should talk to them"Cyborg said. Everyone nodded in response. "Well, good night" Cyborg said. The titans left the room,and all that remained was Robin and Jay. "You sure you're okay?"Robin asked concern in his voice. "I'm fine" she said. They hugged and Robin, partner and brother headed back to his room.
