Sniff sniff sniff
"I-i-is it gone?" A soft boyish voice asks. "I'm not sure." A smooth calm voice replies. "I'll scope it out."
Slowly and with a slight twitch of apprehension a tawny brown jack steps into the clearing of a mountainous field. The light of the sun bringing about his stunning almost auburn highlights and bright golden eyes.
With his strong forelimbs in a crouched position he slowly tilts his head to the right and lifts his left eye to the sky searching for any sign or shadow of the hawk that swooped down upon them while they had their heads to the ground. With a narrow brow he rears up slightly and swerves his head slowly around the large meadow.
One side of the meadow headed up slope littered with large stones that made its way a mile or so further before sloping up into the cliff side of a mountain.Behind him stood a proud and ever overgrown forest.
In the thicket his brother was hunkered down shivering slightly, he had good reason to be afraid this brother of his had soft sandy fur stuck out like a sore thumb amongst the purple clover on the hillside they retreated from.
The tawny jack dipped back down and took two smooth hops forward leaning over his shoulder and standing back on his haunches he kept his eyes on the sky
