Chapter 6 – The White Dragon

"Zara!" someone knocked on my door.

I walked to the direction of the door and opened it. I saw Kija there who had a faint blush on his cheeks. "Do you need anything?" I asked him. Ever since last night, I tried to get Kija's words out of my mind. I didn't know why there was something painful in my chest when I heard that he was lonely.

"U—Umm..." he stuttered. "Do you want to—uh..."

This is hard, he thought.

"What is it?" I frowned. He was really being weird. I was trying not to read his mind so I would be able to keep a conversation going.

"There's a festival in town right now," he informed. "I—I was wondering if you wanted to go...with me...?"

"Okay," my lips curled up in a smile.

The first thing that I noticed when Kija and I both went to the town was that the lights were mesmerizing. There were also many people who were holding food and toys. Everyone looked happy and I couldn't help but be in awe of what I was seeing.

"This is so great," I looked at Kija. "Thanks for bringing me here!"

He scratched the back of his head with the faint blush on his cheeks that didn't falter. "I—It's nothing,"

"Look at that!" I pointed at the direction of a crowd of kids who were looking at the goldfishes. I immediately ran to their direction and observed what they were doing.

"Want to give it a try, miss?" an old man asked me.

"Can I?" my eyes lit up.

The old man nodded. "You just need to scoop a goldfish and if you managed to scoop one, it's all yours,"

"I want to try, Kija!" I smiled at Kija who just chuckled and handed the old man some money. The old man gave me a cup and a tool that was covered in Japanese paper called 'poi'. I used the poi to scoop the goldfish in the flat water tank...but failed miserably. "This is impossible!" I pouted.

"I'll give it a go too," Kija handed more money to the old man and was given a set of a cup and poi. I cheered Kija from behind but he also failed miserably.

"Ugh!" he whined. "I'm going to scoop it out using my ha—"

"I think we're fine," I dragged Kija away from the booth. I didn't want Kija to use his dragon arm just to scoop some goldfishes.

But I got to admit, the thought was kind of funny.

"Oh..." my eyes followed a woman who was eating. "What is that ball-shaped food?"

"That's called takoyaki,"

"Takoyaki..." I repeated. "The shape is really interesting,"

"Do you want to try it?" Kija offered and I nodded. I followed him into a food stall. "Two orders, please," he told the young man who was selling the ball-shaped food. Kija handed him the money and he handed me the takoyaki. One order consisted of four balls.

I used the toothpick to pierce the takoyaki and ate it. "This is so good!" I munched with delight.

"There are other food here too," Kija took a bite of his takoyaki. "If your stomach's not full after this, we can eat other food,"

"Really?" my eyes widened. I had the feeling that I was being pampered today. "But haven't you lost a lot of money yet?"

"Don't worry," he smiled. "Yona gave us a whole lot of money to spend,"

"Yona is really generous,"

"She is," Kija agreed. "I couldn't have asked for a better master than the Queen,"

"I think that there was a reason why I met all of you," I told him honestly. "I'm not exactly sure what the reason is but nevertheless, I'm still glad that I met you."

"Look!" Kija pointed at the sky. "The fireworks are starting,"

"Fireworks?" I asked. I knew that I heard of fireworks before but I couldn't remember anything about what they were.

"Let's go to a good spot," Kija grabbed my hand and guided me to a good spot where there were less people in it.

The both of us looked at the sky and sparkling lights shone above it.

The lights were so mesmerizing that I wished that it would last longer.

"Beautiful..." I muttered.

When I was about to look at Kija, I noticed that he was looking at me as well. "It really is beautiful, isn't it?" he smiled sheepishly.

She's beautiful too...far more beautiful than the fireworks, Kija thought.

I felt something hot in my cheeks. "Really?" I asked while looking down on the ground. "You think I'm beautiful?"

I forgot that she could read minds!, another thought of Kija came in my mind.

Kija started to walk away from me. "L—Let's go back before the others get worried."
