Ch 6 - First Step

Appearing with these two great men are a real honor. The in-laws are good people. But even though you aren't exactly royalty or even taking full control you have a standard to hold. You teleported into a library with countless books. So many aisles that every row had a rolling ladder built in.

Incredible. You look around.

"(FN) welcome to library in my human world estate." Said Mr Gremory. "Sometimes I need to getaway and I like to go to a place where I can stay for a couple days when I'm doing business and occasionally let people stay here."

"This alone is amazing Sir."

"Well let's start with this. You're my son-in-law now. Mr Gremory just doesn't cut it at this point. My real name is Zeoticus. Just call my Zeo."

"Well Zeo thank you for inviting me. What is first?"

"Actually here is a test. This is called the approach test. Now this is a big library for an estate. Not a public library with millions of books, but substantial." He pointed towards the aisles. "In my library it is all organized by category and naturally alphabetically ordered. Now here is your first test. I need you to find three books. The Negotiation Art, Leviathan Deepend, and Thee Lucifer. Find all three. Let's see how long this takes you. Just a heads up, after an hour Sirzechs and I will take off for tea."

"Got it..." Three books. Categories. This is too simple. There's a catch somewhere.

"Begin."

Okay. The first one. What category? You browse to the ends of the aisles that have them labeled. This isn't bad, but just hard to narrow it down and get something specific. This sounds like history. Now I'll start with the T to be precise.

The in-laws looked over at you and smirked. They looked at each other and nodded. Both were on the same page by liking what they have seen so far. Not too eager, thinking the way through, and yet composed. T-A. Little to the side browsing for a minute. Ah. T-H. A lot of The's in here. The N. One, two, three and boom. You pull the book out.

"The Negotiation Art. One." You call over to Mr Gremory.

"Excellent. Put it on my desk for now."  He called back.

Okay. Going good. Now Leviathan Deepend. If a human steps into this library what category does this go in. When I think of this creature I think of a fish story. Sailor or just something in that realm. A good amount of them are just tales. Wait! The fiction section. Right.

The fiction section was huge. Which was no surprise. Devil tales could labeled as fiction in the human world and not so much in the religion category. Which there wasn't any categorized as religious section which gave you an upper hand. All the way to the L's and then from the first one it was a few dozen books down from L-A to L-E.

"Lev. Lev. Lev. Leviathan Annihilation. Leviathan Babylon. Leviathan Chronicles. Leviathan Crown. Ah. Leviathan Deepend. Here we go." You slide the book out and head back to the in-laws. Though next book was the last. Placing the second book on the desk you look over at them.

"So you found the first two?" Asked Zeoticus.

"Yeah. This a trick?" You pondered.

Sirzechs chuckled. "Good luck with book number. That's all I have to say."

"Hmmmm. Thee Lucifer." It might be an autobiography. Fiction? History? Something else? Why do I think that this is just crazy? "Alright. Game on I guess. How long has it been?"

Zeoticus took out a pocket watch. How many do you see using those now? "About twenty minutes. After an hour Sirzechs and I will be gone for a while. Though we shall see. There have some that have taken days to find this."

That was scary. Was he trying to get inside of your head? Because it sure as hell was working. Days!? That can't happen. You have a pregnant wife at home. But wait, that might be why Grayfia is over and attending to Rias. This might be a trap. Something is going on and you need to know. "Why days Zeo?"

"I will be nice and just give the hint. The book is not in it's proper place. Thee Lucifer is not in it's section or even alphabetically placed." Claimed Zeoticus.

Damn! If there is millions of books in here that means I might have to go through all of them. That could take days and nights. That could be a week if I go through every book. "So it's a mystery?"

"Mystery section? No it's not. Don't bother. That's one whole section down for your sake. But I know where the book is located. In fact, you passed it beforehand. If you play your cards right you can figure it out."

"I can. But how long."

( Can anyone guess where it is? This might be trick question. )

You try and go over everything. I've past the History section. Then the Fiction. I passed Geography. Hmmmm. I passed half the middle sections. Unless... hold on. Of course. "Moment please."

Father you think he's got it? Asked Sirzechs.

He just might.

You go to the desk that you put the books on. It was Zeo's desk with many drawers to it. You start gently opening and closing. The three drawer on the right you opened up. Just before the last drawer. You reach for this black book and place it on the desk. "Thee Lucifer. An autobiography of a Devil King. You make a good trick as well as a photo Zeo."

"Impressive." Nodded Sirzechs surprised you figured it out so quickly.

"Told you this boy was bright son. Now for your next assignment (FN). As quickly as you can I need you to read these books and give me your reports. Five pages minimum each. I would say two weeks is decent but if you need an extension which I doubt you'll need I may be considerable."

You look at the three books totalling over a thousand pages easily. "Crap..." Well Wifey I hope you won't be too mad at me. This includes school work and everything else too. I'm in for it.

Hit the books kid. Though school, Devil assignments, pregnant wife, and these reports might be the end of you. Unless your maybe Sora or Shiro from No Game No Life which I just started watching.
