waking up next to him was always going to feel like a dream.

wearing that beautiful ring on her special finger reserved for only the love of her life was always going to feel like a dream.

carrying his unborn baby was always going to feel like a dream.

she stood in the bathroom mirror gazing at her appearance one more time until she reappeared in the restaurant to wait for their guests to arrive. she smoothed out the wrinkles in her long reddy pink dress and tucked some fray hairs into her grips. her darker roots were coming through at the top of her head but she didn't mind - it looked nice.

john liked it like that.

she'd put on a light layer of makeup to her eyes and lips, light pink eyeshadow and the same coloured lip gloss which tasted like strawberries, her cheeks were already pink with nerves but it sort of matched the look.

she exited the bathroom and scaled her eyes across the italian restaurant room spotting her fiancé immediately. they were ten minutes early and complete nervous wrecks. anne had to bail on the meal last minute because she's not very well so they said they would go and visit her at home after the meal.

penelope walked to their table and took a seat next to john.

mimi and caleb arrived at the restaurant at the same time and greeted each other with a hug and then found the table with john and penelope at. john gave her hand one more reassuring squeeze as they approached. penelope stood up and almost jumped onto caleb embracing him tightly, he lifted her off the ground slightly and held the back of her head to him.

"i missed you so much," penelope said down his ear.

"i missed you too," he smiled pulling back and his eyes immediately locked onto the ring occupying her finger. his eyes welled up and he looked to john,

"you, my friend, are one of the lucky ones," he joked before taking a seat beside penelope in the booth and opposite mimi and kept his arm around penelope holding her tight, "i'm so happy for you my sweet girl."

penelope gave caleb the truest and biggest smile she'd ever given, before looking down to her feet and back up to john who was watching her, mimi was trying to signal for a waiter whilst this was happening.

after ordering drinks everyone began chattering amongst themselves, they spoke about everything to do with their lives, caleb informed them he was writing one more book before stopping completely and enjoying his retirement because he hadn't actually done that yet - penelope and caleb agreed to go out the following day before her and john went home to walk mikey and minnie together because she missed them.
