Dean sat behind the counter of his bakery, sipping his pre-opening coffee, as he watched the bustle of activity across the street. There was a new tenant moving in. A flower shop, by the looks of it. He definitely wasn't holding his breath. In the five years that he'd owned and operated his bakery, Life of Pie, there had been four businesses try to open in the building across the street. Try being the key word. Every one of them closed down after fifteen months. It was like clockwork.

As nine o'clock rolled around, Dean moved from behind the counter to the front door to flip the Closed sign to Open. As he did this, two things happened simultaneously. One, Charlie burst in through the Staff door at the back, exclaiming about the "the hottie who just became our neighbour!" Two, a man appeared in the window across the street, and he was so drop dead gorgeous that Dean's mouth actually fell open as he stared openly at him.

The man in question looked to be directing some mover's on where to set up a large display table. As if he could feel Dean's eyes on him, he turned to glance out across the street, making direct eye contact with the baker. Dean immediately blushes, snapping his mouth closed and hurrying from the door, cursing his bad luck and inability to make good first impressions. In doing so, he missed the smile that tugged at the other man's lips.

"Dean!" Charlie shouts again as she bursts into the front of the shop. The door to the kitchen is swinging madly behind her. "Oh my God, did you see the walking God who just moved in? He's totally your type!" She gushes, too busy waving her arms excitedly to stop and study the embarrassment clearly showing in her best friend's, and boss's, face. "I'm going to refer to him as Dean's Future Husband. Have you seen him?"

When she finally stops to take a breath, Dean nods mutely. His embarrassment at being caught staring so openly is still heavy in his veins. Charlie side steps out of Dean's way as he moves to disappear into the kitchen.

"Wait a minute." She remarks, pushing through the door to follow him. "You totally have seen him, and in true Dean Winchester fashion, you've already made a fool of yourself." Dean doesn't have to be looking at her to picture the smug smirk on the redhead's lips. "I knew he was your type." She grins, as if Dean had been arguing the point earlier and she had just proven him wrong. "Now, tell me. What did you do?" She asks.

Dean grimaces as he steps up to one of the high end, expensive ovens to check on the pies he put in there earlier this morning. "C'mon, Charlie. Do I have to relive that horrifying experience?" He groans. Charlie nods insistently. They both know that Dean could pull the 'I'm your boss, get to work' card, but they also both know he never would. Besides, Charlie would just get the story out of him later anyway.

He buys himself more time by double checking the other two industrial ovens they have. Nothing is burning, and he's stalled as long as he can. With a groan, he turns and leans back against one of the counters. Charlie is grinning from ear to ear, clearing deriving too much enjoyment out of Dean's back luck and misgivings.

"Well? What kind of first impression did you make this time?" She presses, secretly hoping for another one involving ungracefully breaking something. Dean feels himself redden further.

"The total creep kind." He grumbles. "I just happened to see him through the window, and I may or may not have started drooling. He may or may not have also caught me. God, I didn't even wave or smile or anything. I just ran." He continues, hiding his face in his hands as his so-called best friend snorts. She always had found amusement in his pain. Maybe it was time for a new best friend.

As he pulls his hands down to uncover his eyes, he shoots Charlie a half-hearted glare. "You suck." He mumbles against his palms. "For that you're stuck on register duty." He knows it's not much of a punishment, seeing as Charlie loves people and interacting with them, but he also knows that all his staff love being in the kitchen with him. Apparently, he's the best boss ever. Or so says the mug they bought him for Christmas last year.
