"He once was the best father a girl could ask for... until my mother died. That was when it all started."
Logan grabbed my hand to comfort me, but no matter how much his touch brought me a tidal wave of calmness, I still shook with nerves. I have never told anyone, and I am telling a guy I have only known for a couple of weeks! What is wrong with me...
"Ugh- you know what, Logan? I think I better head inside before it gets dark."
"As if I am going to let you walk back in there after seeing your bruises! Especially now that I know that your pain is being caused by the asshole sipping his vodka chamomile tea inside" He growled. Wait, growled?
"Look, if I go back now, I won't be in trouble! Okay? I can handle it; I have always found a way to handle it."
"I said no and that is final. Understood?" I gazed into his eyes and let out a sigh. I wanted to argue with him. After all, who was he to tell me what to do and when to do it? He had already won this, his smirk told me he knew that too.
"Where would I g-"
"LOGAN!"
"Shit..." Logan cursed under his breath. His movements became quick. He grabbed my hand and started walking back to my house where Kayden stood.
"What? What happened? You are taking me back? After everything that just happened. Look, Logan, I know I was pretty confident about being fine before but if I go back, I don't know if I will see the light of day."
"Bell, something really bad has happened at my pa- house. My family are in danger and if I take you there, you will be too. It is going to take me everything to send you back to that scum. But he is the less of two evils and I promise you that I will come and get you as soon as it is safe to do so." He grabbed my hands in his, pulling my body close to his. He was so warm. Then, he did something that I did not expect him to do...
He put a ring on my finger.
Wait! I am too young to be married. What the hell is he thinking? Someone needs to visit a mental asylum. Just to clarify, that person is not me.
"This will protect you Bell. Wear it at all times and do not take it off your finger! Do you hear me?" I nodded my head, uncertainly. What makes this ring so important?
"Alp- Logan we really need to go," Kayden said, his eyes moving back and forth.
"Promise me, Arabella. Do not remove this ring," Logan said whilst staring into my eyes, his face inches away from mine.
"I promise..." Next thing I know, he races off into the night with Kayden. I am left on the street outside of my house, the lamp post flickering eerily above my head. My breaths come out in shallow puffs and my heart is racing at an abnormal rate. I was scared because I knew what awaited me as soon as I took a step onto the cream coloured carpet that lay on the other side of the door.
Stalling time, I glance at the ring that lay on my index finger. A forest green emerald surrounded by dark roses. It was beautiful, to say the least. My eyes glued to its enchanting beauty. I have never touched something of such value before in my life. Why did he give me this? My deadbeat father would probably sell it within seconds of seeing it. Speaking of...
I took what might be my final steps towards the house that stood proudly in front of me, opened the door and made my way inside to see him.
"Oh, hello honey."
"They are gone..."
"HOW DARE YOU BRING THEM HERE, YOU FUCKING SLUT. Perhaps you were looking for some fun, you whore. I thought I made the "no friends" rule pretty crystal fucking clear." He quickly stood up from his seat, the chair sliding out from under him and smashing into the wall behind him.
"I didn't even know they were coming here, I didn't even give them our address-"
"You are a fucking liar, just like your mother." Tears flew down my face as he advanced on me. My back hit the wall behind me, cliché fucking wall. Why do walls exist!? Oh, wait, privacy...
"This is your punishment..." He raised his hand just as I raised mine to block my face. I closed my eyes awaiting the impact.... Nothing. Huh? I opened my eyes and what I saw shocked me completely...
He was frozen.
