-Brittany's Aesthetic-
Beeeeep-Beeeeep
I groaned and forced my eyes to open. I looked at the clock on my nightstand to see the time. In big green numbers, it read, '6:00 AM.' Ugh, why did I set an alarm again?
Oh shit! School...
I got up from my laying position and attempted to stretch. I felt a sharp pain stab at my ribs and I automatically knew that if they weren't at least cracked, they were broken. I grimaced at the amount of pain I felt and walked to the restroom across from my bedroom. I did my business and walked back into my room to grab some clothes from my unpacked boxes. I decided on some clothes that were simple. Clothes like these never used to be my style. I would wear cute sundresses and wedges. Whereas now, I chose clothes that didn't make much of a statement. Richard liked this very much as well. Not that I would usually care about his opinion but, if I wanted to avoid another beating, I would do anything and everything that he told me.
I walked to the bathroom and unwrapped my hand from last night. The sight before me made me cringe and I couldn't help but let out a sob. Why is my life like this? I didn't deserve this. I didn't, did I? I undressed and made sure the door was locked. I turned on the shower and hopped under the hot water. A hot stream of droplets cascaded down my back and I let out a small sigh. The weather here was freezing, which made this shower probably the greatest event of today. After 30 minutes of standing under the water, to sore to move, I got out and dried my body and hair. I put my clothes on and brushed my teeth whilst staring at my tired face. Bags formed under my eyes and my skin had gone a sickly white from both the weather and the abuse.
I went back to my first-aid kit and began to wrap my hand with a fresh bandage. Once I had made sure the swelling and bruising was covered, I grabbed my iPod and headphones and silently made my way downstairs. I walked to the kitchen and made Richard some toast since we didn't take much food from our old house. I better get a job soon, so we can afford more food, not that I get any. As soon as his food was on his plate on the kitchen table, I wasted no time in leaving the house after grabbing my backpack. I didn't want to be anywhere near him when he woke up.
I had a brochure of the school from enrolment that contained a map of the town and where the school was. I pulled it out of my bag and saw that school was a twenty-minute walk from my house. Great... I best start my venture.
I turned my music on full sound and walked slowly to school. The pain from my body and the cold air made me swallow back tears. It is not that bad Arabella. It could be much worse.
Once I had arrived at Mayview High I walked up to the front doors. I opened them and automatically wanted to close them and run away. I walked through the halls whilst everyone stared and whispered. You would think that since I had moved around a lot, I would be used to the amount of attention that was attached to being the new girl. But I wasn't.
I found a sign that said, 'OFFICE,' and walked inside. An old lady sat behind the desk with a small smile on her lips. Her silver hair tied up in a tight bun at the back of her head. She had a friendly vibe surrounding her and I automatically felt a sense of warmth from her presence.
"Hello dear! You must be Arabella! I'm Mrs Baker. I have your schedule and locker combination here and here is a note that I need all your teachers to sign. Please bring that back to me when the school day finishes. I hope you have a great first day here at Mayview and if you need anything, just come find me!"
Mrs Baker passed me everything I needed, and I couldn't help but feel nervous. The fact that she didn't even let me put a word in that conversation didn't help with my nerves either. I walked out of the office to face yet again, more stares and whispers.
This is going to be a long day...
I looked at my schedule to see the words:
1st Period: Maths.
(ROOM J01)
2nd Period: Gym.
(STUDENT HALL)
LUNCH
3rd Period: English.
(ROOM L06)
LUNCH
4th Period: Science.
(ROOM B09)
Ugh! Why so many classes?
I heard the bell ring for the first period and I trudged off with the hopes of finding the right classroom.
After walking around for a few minutes, I found where I was meant to be and opened the door. The teacher stopped talking and looked at me with a frustrated frown. Was I meant to knock...?
"You must be the new student...Arabella Black? Take a seat please and try not to interrupt so rudely next time..." the teacher said whilst pointing to an empty chair in the back of the classroom.
I guess I was supposed to knock...
I held my head down in shame and walked to the seat. I cradled my sore hand close to my stomach to avoid hitting it on someone's desk or chair. Yes... I am that clumsy. I felt many people staring at my figure as I went to sit down. I tried to keep normal composure with everyone's eyes on me. My body was in so much pain from the recent beatings, that even I am surprised I haven't already collapsed.
The teacher handed out a few worksheets and told us that they had to be completed by the end of the lesson. So, naturally, I started listening to the whispers coming from the girls to my left instead.
"Have you seen Logan this morning?"
"Nope. That is normal though. He only ever shows up when he feels like it, Britt."
"You don't think I know that! I am his girlfriend! Of course, I know that!" the one that was called 'Britt' said.
"You are not actually dating though Brittany. He is kind of just use-"
"Shut up Bonnie! We are together, he is just being stubborn."
I inwardly scoffed at how naïve this "Brittany" was. I feel sorry for this Logan guy.
"Excuse me? Do I know you?" I heard from my left. I turned to see Brittney starring at me with annoyance. Whoops, looks like I scoffed out loud.
"U-um I am new... so no?" I said.
"Well then mind your own business slut," she said whilst grabbing out some more lip gloss and applying a new coat onto her puckered lips. Woah, that's a new one.
Righto... someone needs a tampon.
After zoning back in on my worksheets and doing my best to the complete them, the bell had rung for 2nd period. The one class I was dreading the most, Gym.
