Through Shadow and Lightning A Warrior Rises

Chapter 4

Serena was up packing her stuff and picking out her clothes that she would wear when she went to pick up her starter Pokemon from Professor Sycamore.  She was down to the hats, a brown cap and a pink fedora.  She chose the pink fedora and flipped her hair back behind her shoulders.  Serena went downstairs to have breakfast before she headed out.  She said bye to her mom and Ryhorn on the way out and started running to Lumiose City.  I hope I can catch Ash before he gets too far away, Serena thought.  As Serena, was running she had no idea that she was being watched.  A shadow was watching her from the dark ready to attack but it never got the chance as its head was chopped off.  X absorbed the shadow energy and watched as Serena ran down the route.

"So it begins" X said.  He then jumped up over the trees and flew back to Sycamore's lab.

X returned to the professor's lab just as the professor was waking up.  X needed to speak with him and this was the best time to do it.

"Augustine I need to speak with you" X said.

"Sure X what do you need?" he asked.

X pulled out a smoking stone tablet that turned into a flash-drive.  He plugged it into the computer and opened up a file.  The file contained all the information that the demons had gathered on the shadows.  Being the heir to the throne of the demon king, he was in charge of preserving the knowledge of his people and at this moment the file he had pulled up was the most important file in the history of this war.  Up on the screen was an image of a shadow

"You saw the thing that attacked Ash at the top of Lumiose Tower" X said.  "It's called a shadow and it is the most dangerous being in existence in any universe or dimension.  You need to know how to fight them because whether you are a fighter or a researcher the shadows will kill you.  For your female colleagues if the shadows get to them they will be used as playthings and reproduction sites to create more shadows."

X looked at the professor who had a shocked look on his face.  X face-palmed at himself as once again he said way too much way too fast.

"Sorry about that I'll put in shorter terms.  They are here to kill and rape the people and Pokemon of this world and destroy everything that remains intact after their rampage" X said.  "Does that pretty much sum up what we are dealing with?"

Professor Sycamore nodded his head as X began running around and pulling up news stories from around Kalos.  He had heard of the disasters and terrorist attacks that happened in the other regions like Kanto and Sinnoh, but he never thought that something like that could happen in Kalos.  There hadn't been any unusual activity anywhere as far as he knew, but then he wasn't told everything all the time.

"The disasters and attacks in the other regions, the same thing is happening to Kalos" Sycamore said.

"Oh my friend what's happening here will make those events will look like a very bad cut compared to what's going to happen if we don't start preparing" X said.  "I've given you articles and stories from around Kalos that talk of strange happenings.  The common person would call them conspiracy theories, but if a lot of people talk about the exact same thing the exact same way chances are all those people are telling the truth.  Unless they talk about how one race of people is causing all the bad things to happen in the world then they are just talking out of their racist ass.  Now I need to wake up the kids and we need to set off on this journey.  Ash is the key to preventing the death of an entire world just like so many times before, but now it's war and it's going to take the strongest in Kalos."

X left the room to get Ash and his friends and Professor Sycamore was left standing alone with his thoughts.  He went to the Pokemon living area and walked over to where Garchomp was laying down.

"Well my friend it looks like we will be battling again after all" Sycamore said.

Ash and company walked out of the lab heading straight for Santalune City.  While on the way Bonnie wanted Clemont to catch a Dedenne that she saw but they failed at first because of an annoying Fletchling.  Ash battled with Froakie and eventually caught Fletchling but Dedenne had run away at that point.  However, they met up with the same Dedenne a little later on that afternoon and after an encounter with Team Rocket Dedenne decided to travel with the group.  Dedenne had teamed up with Pikachu and it was obvious that Dedenne looked up to him.

"You know he's basically you're little brother now" X told Pikachu.  "As a matter of fact I think that's what we'll call him 'lil bro Dedenne'."

At the same time Serena had just gotten to Professor Sycamore's lab to choose her Pokemon.  She had already made up her mind before she got there.

"Hello is anyone there?" Serena asked.

"Hello there and how are you today?  My name is Professor Sycamore and I'm guessing you came here to choose your very first Pokemon" Professor Sycamore said.

"Right and professor I was wondering if you could tell me about a trainer that was here recently?  I saw that he saved a Garchomp last night" Serena said.

"Oh right that was Ash and he's making his way to Santalune City now" he said.

"Professor I would like to choose my Pokemon please" Serena said.

"Marvelous!  Come on out everyone" Augustine said. (A/N: switching to Augustine for the story unless there are formal introductions)

A Froakie, Chespin, and Fennekin all walked out into view.  The Fennekin had been feeling down ever since a particular Froakie left with a trainer.  She looked and saw the girl looking at her and figured she would be leaving too.  She sighed and put on a smile.

"Fennekin I pick you I'm Serena. I hope we can be good friends."

"If you don't mind my asking Serena, why do want to find Ash?" Augustine asked.

"I have to return something to him" Serena said before running out.  Augustine was just left confused.

Serena and Fennekin then found a Pokemon Center a little ways from the lab and stayed there until morning before setting off again.

During the night a young girl was attacked by a shadow.  She screamed but no one heard.  By the time the shadow was done the girl's clothes were shredded, her body scarred, and her innocence stolen by a monster.  The shadow drank in all the negative energy from the heinous act it had just committed and dispersed creating more shadows.

"Well then let's go then" it said.  "It's time for kickoff."
