Calum's scheduled appointment to talk to his doctor about the surgery was on Friday and as of right now, when Michael and Calum were unpacking in the apartment they were renting out for a couple months, it was Wednesday.

Neither of them had anything planned for the day off they had together so Michael decided that he'd put something together for him and Calum to do; to make up for the weeks he spent ignoring Calum and watching him be teased.

So, on Thursday morning, Michael came barreling into Calum's room and pounced on his bed. "Calum, Calum!" He sang, bouncing up and down to shake Calum awake.

Calum huffed, sleepily rolling over on his side and hoping Michael would just go away if he squeezed his eyes shut tight enough. Unfortunately, the bouncing and shrilling of his name in different tones and octaves didn't stop.

Slowly, Calum began to sit  up and Michael stopped bouncing but didn't stop singing Calum's name. Calum reached out with his eyes closed, softly batting Michael's nose a couple times before he found Michael's mouth. He triumphantly covered it, peeking open his eyes just to be met by Michael's.

"Good morning!" Michael chirped when Calum removed his hand to rub his eyes tiredly. Michael seemed disturbingly cheerful for this hour. Usually he'd sleep until at least noon, so Calum would be lying if he said he wasn't concerned that Michael was voluntarily awake at 10 PM.

Michael just smiled, climbing off of Calum's bed. "Get out of bed and get ready then come meet me downstairs," He ordered, setting his hands on his hips with a determined look. "No questions!" He added, before quickly disappearing downstairs.

Though Calum was skeptical, he got up and began to get dressed because Michael seemed excited about whatever he had shoved up his sleeve.

After Calum was dressed and cleaned, he made his way downstairs and was greeted by Michael- who had also gotten cleaned up and dressed.

Michael grinned, extending his arm for Calum to link his with. "You look stunning, m'lady," He complimented, then blushed deeply. "I mean... mister? Ah, hell. M'lady sounded better."

An amused smile made it's way onto Calum's face as he pulled out his notepad that he'd packed in his pocket. "What is this?' He wrote, then handed it out to Michael.

"A date, of course!" Michael said like it was the most obvious thing in the world, then his cheeks resumed their previous red colour. "I mean, unless you don't want it to be a date because I've kind screwed things up in the past and I don't know how you..."

Midway Michael's rambling, Calum began writing on his notepad again. He tapped on Michael's shoulder, interrupting him to show him what he'd written.

'Shut up.'

Michael sheepishly smiled as Calum put away his notepad then linked his arm with Michael's. The two boys walked out of the rental apartment and into the crisp New York air. Michael shivered lightly and curled into Calum as they walked to wherever Michael was taking them.

As they walked further, Calum began to hear loud music. He looked over at Michael with a questioning look and Michael just smiled at him. "Fall festival." He grinned cheerfully and Calum's eyes lit up.

They eventually made it to the park where everything was set up. Booths with people selling miscellaneous things, food trucks, rides and games. It smelt strongly of popcorn and pumpkin spice anything and the local radio station was blasting along with little children screaming.

"It's a lot busier than I thought it would be." Michael commented, breaking the silence between the two as he scanned over everything.

Calum quickly pulled out his notepad. 'How did you even know there was a festival?' He wrote, handing it out to Michael.

Michael just smiled. "I did my research." He hummed, looking back over towards the festival. His eyes almost immediately grew wide. "Oh my God! They have 'The Twister'?! C'mon, Cal!" He cheered, beginning to tug Calum over to a spinning ride with a large sign that spelled 'Twister' in red sparkly letters.

They spent almost the whole day on going on every single ride that they could. They took breaks in between to get food and go to the washroom and such though. Michael declared that the caramel apples they sold here were absolutely godly but Calum whined about the caramel getting stuck in his teeth.

"It's almost 5 o'clock and there's only one thing we haven't been on," Michael announced as they wandered around the park, picking off pieces of the cotton candy Michael was holding. "The fun house."

Calum glanced around, spotting the fun house off in the distance. He nudged Michael and pointed it out to him, causing Michael to grin. "Yes! To the fun house!" He cheered, throwing out the perfectly good cotton candy then dragging Calum towards the fun house.

A lot of the people were gone and now instead of people taking up most of the ground, it was empty candy wrappers, ripped tickets and several other things ignorant people had just decided to leave of the ground. It was peaceful though because there wasn't any screaming anymore.

Michael gave the man the rest of their tickets when they got to the fun house then grabbed Calum's hand and led him in.

Immediately, there were mirrors lining up all the walls, some making Michael and Calum look normal but others distorting their bodies so they were skinnier, fatter, shorter, taller, twisted and many different ones.

Michael started being silly in some of the mirrors, getting Calum to laugh because Michael thought Calum's wheezy laugh was almost inhumanly adorable. This time, Calum didn't freak out about laughing because it was only him and Michael.

The next room had a bunch of doors to go through and the ceiling got shorter each door you went through. By the time they got into the next room, they were crawling and giggling at each other.

Several rooms later and the boys finally came out of the exit of the fun house, a panting and giggly mess. "Good night!" Michael politely called back to the ticket man as him and Calum walked away, hand in hand.

They walked to the edge of the park, then Michael stopped walking and Calum turned to him. He has a shy smile on his face and looked nervous. Calum squeezed his hand in reassurance.

"I had a lot of fun." Michael said softly, biting his lip as his shy smile grew. Calum nodded in agreement, this day had been really fun and he was glad he spent it with Michael.

Things went awkwardly silent for a bit before Michael did something Calum wasn't expecting him to do. He kissed him. Well, Calum wasn't sure if it counted as a kiss because it was short- their lips hardly touched for longer than two seconds.

Both of them blushed. "Let's go home." Michael squeaked, embarrassment filling his voice as he began to led Calum home, missing the loving and overjoyed look Calum was giving him.
