Where am I? What day is it? What year is it? Who am I? What is going on? All I knew was that I woke up with a massive headache, which was odd because I don't remember having drank the night before. It was also odd because I was lying on a hard surface. It felt like a wooden floor but it wasn’t waxed—it felt coarse under my fingertips. I opened my eyes and I didn't know what to think. The surrounding area, it was big, like really big. The door looked abnormally large, well larger than I remember doors to look like and I was inside a room. This was not my room. My room didn’t look giant—this room looked to belong to a palace of sorts with high—very high ceilings. Quickly I stood up, having to hold my head from experiencing vertigo. Clumsily I made my way to the door, missing a step or two, coming to the edge of where I stood. My foot gave out and I almost lost my balance as I looked to the floor below me. It was far, too far for this to be normal. The ceiling was one thing, this was something else. I looked around and found myself standing on top of a desk. Now I was really confused, had I gone to a new type of museum in where we experience everything being bigger than ourselves like a bug? Was this a simulation of Honey I Shrunk the Kids? I tapped my head to see if maybe I was wearing VR gear but even then it wouldn’t be this realistic.
I could heard the rattle of the handle as someone opened the door. Seeing as I was in the middle, exposed, I panicked and ran behind a set of books. I peeked through and saw as someone made their way to their desk and sat down, looking extremely tired. They took off their hat and I knew it was a girl. But this girl was big, had I climbed up a bean stalk during my blackout? More importantly why couldn't I remember my name? The girl laid her head down on the desk, closing her eyes and letting out what sounded like a tired breath. I took the courage to walk up to her. I was small in comparison to her, it was odd because I remember being quite tall. I didn’t have much complaint on my height. I stood in front of her face, as she breathed out from her nose I could feel the gust of wind. I climbed over her finger, making sure not to wake her in any way. Why was she so big? I never believed giants to be real before. I looked around the room now realizing it was a girl’s, in front was a mirror: this was a vanity desk. I wasn't just small, I was barely five inches tall. The door to the room opened again but this time a male leaked in—smiling as he looked at the sleeping girl—before closing the door once again. Either I was transported to a place where everyone was a giant or I was different. What am I?!
I needed to hide, find a way to figure out what was wrong with me. I started looking around to see where I could hide before anyone saw me when something caught my eye in the reflection of the mirror in the midst of looking around and roaming my eyes. The girl had opened her eyes and was looking right at me through the reflection. Our eyes met and I could feel a cold chill run down my spine. I was screwed, what was I to do now?
But ... this is NOT a love story.
