She always found it almost, pathetic, that the want to feel superior to others comes at such a young age. She had just moved into the new neighborhood and in an attempt to make friends, begged her mother to take her to the nearest park. So, there she was. Alone in the park because she may have come earlier than others and while waiting for the rest of the neighboring kids—which she knew there were—she played by herself in the sandbox. After all, she was six and had a hyper active imagination. Yerim really was enjoying herself and discreetly watching the group of boys who had just come and were playing on the playground. It was four of them and the eldest looked to mainly just be there to watch over them. Another little girl joined them.

She was minding her own business, watching the friends she was building up the courage to talk to when a boy, not that much older than her came up to her. Her six-year-old self, looked up thinking maybe it was a friend but was met with a sneering face. This boy did not want to be friends and she could tell. She was a petite girl and probably his latest victim to pick on. She saw it coming from a mile away but still, not prepared to have him kick the bucket she was playing with across the sandbox. She jumped at the actions and he laughed.

"Look at this loner, haven't seen you before."

She didn't say anything but stood up to take the bucket. She was going to pretend he wasn't there. When she did, she noticed he had a group of friends that were also sneering at her. Holding in her natural reaction—to cry—she went back to her spot, only to find her tormentor had destroyed the sand castle she had been working on. Irritated and angry, she stalked over to him. She placed her foot square on his head and pushed him forward. He fell face first into the sand. She couldn't contain the laugh that came out of her mouth as she watched him scramble up and sputter out sand from his mouth.

"You're going to pay for that midget!"

Shrugging she stuck out her tongue to him and made to leave when he harshly gabbed her arm. "Yah, let go! I don't know you and I don't care to know who you are. Just leave me alone."

Her reply only seemed to anger him more at the mere fact she talked back to him.

"Well you're going to find out exactly who I am!"

The bully lunged at her but was grabbed by the collar. The group she had been watching had come over suddenly. The oldest of the boys had him by the collar and clicked his tongue at him. She noted how with his eyes furrowed he looked rather intimidating but still had this gentle aura to him. The one next to him had a stone-cold expression. It made her feel chills run up her spine at the sight. Behind her, she felt a soft hand on her shoulder. It was the girl who smiled towards her. The boy next to her also smiled. She blinked seeing how both of them had eye smiles that made their eyes turn into little crescents.
