‘Hello, can I…. can I help you?’ Daniel timidly spoke, staring into those blue eyes. Lucifer, they were nice. The strange boy stared at Dan in a similar fashion, intrigued. ‘Well, we realised that there was someone here, and we’ve  never seen anyone here before so we were like “oh maybe someone cool is there, let’s say hi” and here we are, you know, saying hi.’ Phil cursed himself for being so awkward but my God this boy was cute. Daniel cocked his head slightly when the third person angrily passed a oddly patterned small strip of paper to the black haired one. ‘Oh my God, you guys suck, hey, I’m Jay, they/them pronouns, I’m very cool, what’s your name and pronouns?’ Jay said, mildly (completely) done with their friends uselessness. ‘Oh, I’m… I’m Daniel, he/him.’ Daniel said, sounding terrified. He had never heard such names, they were as unusual as his own. ‘That’s such a nice nice name, I’m Phil, he/him. May I call you Dan?’ Phil asked, his confidence taking a huge leap, infatuated by these people, humans worshiped God, so he was told, but this non binary just did blasphemy, as he tends to do with Satan, so he assumed they cared about religion as much as he did. ‘Yeah, I mean, um, the.. the only person that speaks to me started calling me serotonin deficiency, so...?’ Daniel was a little shocked, mostly fascinated at how the humans reacted. Louise (he assumed it was Louise by default) looked shocked and mildly horrified, Jay snorted and Phil looked taken aback, but equally amused. ‘That’s either brilliant or horrible, either way, it’s my new favourite insult and I will use it all the time.’ Jay said, still giggling. Daniel cracked a small smile, dimple showing every so slightly. ‘Come.. come in.’ He said, mortified that he had just let them stand out on the top of the stairs in the cold Autumn air. The three walked past him, he quickly realised Louise had a reusable shopping bag on her arm. ‘Um, just go up to the kitchen, second door to your left. The three guests made their way to the ground floor and into the pretty kitchen. It was similar to Louise’s, but nicer. The floor was a light varnished wooden one with the smallest amount of water damage, making it creaky in some places. All along the right wall, there was a bunch of cabinets with foggy glass doors and a wooden frame, similar to the colour of the floor. The wall the door was on had a double fridge, silver, that had a water and ice dispenser, next to it were black marble countertops, cabinets above then, the same wood colour as the floor. The countertops and cabinets continued on the the wall on the left hand side. It wrapped all the way around to the conservatory doors at the end of the room. In the centre of the room stood a kitchen island, similar to the counters, surrounded by tall chairs, long metal legs leading to black leather cushioned seats. Four of them were at the island, two on the right hand side and two at either end. The humans walked in, visibly impressed with the place. ‘So Dan, what are your hobbies?’ Phil questioned, Daniel was confused, no one  apart from his family had ever expressed interest in what Daniel liked, and even so, it wasn’t very often. ‘Oh, um, I play piano, and, um, I don’t know, draw?’ He said, that was probably the most functional sentence he had uttered since he met these people so he was taking it as a win. ‘Hm, you like music then.’ Phil smiled, taking in Daniel’s outfit, black and white striped trousers rolled up at the bottom and a black jumper that looked both too big and too small for him. Louise put the bag she had down on the kitchen island, taking out two bottles of Coke, one of peach Lipton and 7up. She also had a packet of ham ruffles and some generic shop brand crisps. ‘Yeah, I, um, I don’t get to listen to much of it though.’ Daniel nervously replied, looking at the beverages. ‘I recommend Muse, they’re good. You okay? You look a little on edge.’ Phil said, sounding genuinely concerned. ‘I… yeah, just, um, what’s… what’s that?’ The brown haired boy spoke. Phil turned to look at the food and drink and then turned back to Daniel frowning, the other two looked confused. ‘Fizzy drinks and crisps, junk food? We figured you might not have any food so we just brought over what we were already having.’ Phil explained, how closed off was this boy? ‘Hey, Phil, Jay and I have to go set up the living-room back home, feel free to stay if Daniel wants you to.’ Louise said, looking at they two expectantly. Needless to say, Phil stayed.

This is such a short chapter, I’m sorryyyyyyy, I promise the next one will be long.
