This boy amazed him. How could someone know so little about the world? Phil looked at Dan in amusement and fascination  when he saw Dan scrunch up his nose in shock at the fizziness of Cocacola. ‘Oh wow, that’s really weird, but nice?’ Dan giggled, trying to suppress a happy dance when his sentence came out as rehearsed in his head. Dan wasn’t  used  to talking properly with new people. ‘Yeah, that’s fizzy drinks, or soda, as Jay would call it.’ Phil said, mocking his friends accent. Daniel let out a little laugh at this, which Phil made a mental note to compliment at some point. ‘These things are really nice, what were they called?’ Daniel beamed, he seemed a lot more relaxed now that there were less people. ‘Crisps, Dan, crisps.’ Phil smiled, Dan’s fascination with everything reminded him of a young curious child. ‘So, music.’ Phil said, pulling out his phone to get spotify up. Dan’s eyes widened in wonder when he saw the screen light up. ‘What’s that?’ Dan asked, looking enthralled with the object. Phil looked at him wondering how deprived he was from the real world. ‘This is my phone.’ He said staring into Dan’s pretty brown eyes. ‘No it’s not, a phone doesn’t light up, silly, and a phone is attached to the wall.’ Dan giggled. Phil just assumed he’d never had caffeine before because he was practically bouncing it his seat. ‘Maybe where you’re from, here these are phones, you can make phone calls, sure, but you can also listen to music, read stories, watch films… Where are you from?’ Phil questioned. Dan looked down, that timidness from when he answered the door was back. ‘You… you wouldn’t believe me.’ He sadly stated. Wouldn’t believe him? ‘What do you mean?’ Phil asked, tilting Dans head up, only to see fear in his eyes. ‘It’s- I-... I don’t know, it’s complicated.’ Dan sighed. What could be so complicated? ‘Yo, you’re sweating, wanna go change into a t-shirt?’ Phil asked, completely changing the topic to try make Dan less uncomfortable. ‘I don’t have any clothes here, I’d have to go back to get some, and I don’t want to just yet.’ Dan said, smiling a bit when Phil jumped up and shouted “eureka” ( yes, he actually did that). ‘Luckily for us I live in walking distance and happen to have a brother that owes me a favour.’ He smiled, silently celebrating when Dan let out a rather loud laugh. Phil grabbed his phone and opened whatsapp:

Phil: MARTYN FAVOUR NOW

Idiot brother: dude its 1 am wtf do you wantttttttt

Phil: Im with a literal angel, I need you to go to my room and scoop a shit load of my clothes into a suitcase and come to Louises street but like go to the house at the end of the street, and GIMMIE ZEE CLOTHESS

Idiot brother: oh ffs FINE but i get to murder you tomorrow

Phil: fInE bUt HuRrY

‘Okay he’s on his way.’ Phil smiled, looking at the boy in front of him regaining a little confidence. ‘I have a brother.’ Daniel mentioned. ‘Oh?’ Phil raised an eyebrow. ‘Yeah, he’s a few years younger than me, but he looks and acts older. Like, he’s always taking care of me because my school hates me and will end up killing me.’ Dan said, smiling with that face that says “I just said something horrifying, let my play it off with a smile”. ‘Oh Jesus, why do they hate you? You’re brilliant.’ Phil sadly stated. He had noticed the deep purple bruises and small slits in Dans skin, however,  he hadn’t assumed it was done delibiretly. ‘You really think so?’ Daniel questioned, smile small, fragile. ‘I do.’ Phil breathed. Shouting erupted from Phils phone, Daniel scrunched his face up in confusion when Phil said the words of the shouting. A guitar riff exploded, filling the air with music, Daniel liked this. ‘Looooove, it’ll get you nooooowheeeeree’ Phil sang, looking at Daniel and laughing a bit, his tongue between his teeth. ‘What even is this?’ Daniel laughed, loud and obnoxious, it was quite adorable. ‘Psycho, by Muse, I’m gonna make you, a fucking psychooooooo.’ Phil said, placing his phone down and bouncing around, grabbing Daniels hands to make him do the same. A big smile, fully showing off his dimples, appeared on Daniels face. Was this what other people felt like all the time? Genuine happiness coursed through his veins as he danced like a maniac with Phil. Daniel believed that this was the first time he’d seen someone dance and have fun. ‘I’ve never seen someone dance like this.’ He cackled, Phil twirling him around. ‘That’s because when people dance, they try to look good, we look like idiots, but idiots having fun.’ Phil breathlessly said, trying to sound somewhat wise. As if he wasn’t a 17 year old, unfit, dummy. ‘I guess that makes sense.’ Daniel was having more fun than he thought possible. Then he stopped, dead still. ‘You okay?’ Phil asked, concerned about the boy in front of him. ‘Shhh wait.’ Daniel said, looking concentrated. He nodded after a bit and left the room, signaling Phil to follow him. They went down the stairs to the bottom floor and into the living-room. Daniel practically ran across the room to the piano. Phil was really interested now. He saw the brown haired boy press down on a few keys, testing almost.  Dm, A, Gm, F,  A7, Dm. ‘Impressed would be an understatement to how I feel right now.’ Phil smiled. That was the riff in Psycho, on the piano. Daniel blushed, pale skin turning a light shade of pink.
