I come out of the bathroom from doing my makeup and see Parker sitting on my bed. She looked pretty. I looked to see if the door was closed and when I saw it was I kissed her. After she pulled back she looked up at me.
"You ready to go?" I ask her and she shrugs standing up. I put on my shoes and grab my keys. We had planned a whole day to ourselves this Saturday. I had canceled so many times so I owe it to her. We walk downstairs and I see Kendra and Kai playing UNO.
"Ha! Draw four nigga!" Kendra yelled slapping a card on the table.
"No you draw eight nigga!" Kai yelled throwing down a card also.
"You can't do that! London tell him you can't do that with a draw four!" Kendra said standing up and throwing her cards on the floor.
"You can- " Parker started to say but I pinched her arm. She squealed and hit my arm.
"What you do that for?" She asked rubbing the place I pinched.
"Never get involved in their games! They take things way too serious and they will fight." I whispered to her and she gasped looking at them. I look and I seen Kai has Kendra in a headlock.
"Ma come get your kids! They fighting!" I yell and mama comes running out of the room.
"Stop! Dammit y'all!" She yells running and she slips on the wood floor. She slides on her socks right into the couch and flips over it. We all stop and look and then we burst out laughing including mama.
"Y'all almost made me break my damn neck." She whines and stands up. We are all still laughing until she gives us a serious face.
"Before y'all head out go get my mail. My back hurt." Mama commanded me as she sat on the couch.
"Y'all two go fix me something to eat. I want a sandwich with chips and a glass of orange soda." I heard her clapping as I went out the door. I walked to the mailbox and got the mail. The first envelope was addressed to me. As I read the return address I stopped in my tracks. There my mother's name was written so beautifully in the left hand corner. My heart felt like it was gonna beat out of my chest. I ran in the house and handed mama her mail.
"Bye mama!" I say grabbing Parker's hand and pulling her outside. I closed the door and handed her the envelope.
"Wait isn't that your mom's name?" She asks looking up from the envelope. I shush her and nod. Her eyes widen.
"Open it. Open it." She whispers handing it back to me. I start to tear it but then I look around and think about where we are.
