Chris was sitting cross legs on the dry mud floor. His books place on his lap. He wipes his eyes with his sleeve. "H-hey auntie Gwen. I know I don't s-speak m-much when I'm here but I'm Chris, Jack and Ianto's s-son"
He plays with a loose thread on his trousers as he continued to speak "my daddy and papa have told me a lot of stuff about you. That you were always c-c-caring that's the word they said. They said you were very c-caring to my daddy and papa. They said you were a happy person. Always making people, smile. I like that, making people smile"
Chris looks up at the sky before saying "daddy says you’re with the angels. Do they have wings? Can they fly? Do you have a halo? Can you do all those stuff? That would be so cool." Chris picks up a dead flower, twirling it between his fingers "daddy says that you watch me while I'm sleeping, that you protect me and nothing's going to hurt. Because your there to keep those bad monsters away and you watch us from the sky. Do the stars look pretty up there?"
He opens one of his books and pulls out a letter. "Papa said that I could maybe give you a message. So I wrote you this letter!" He smiles fondly at it before placing it on the grave "I hope you can read it. It's just like a thank you! For everything you done."
He feels someone sitting next to him. He looks up to see his papa. That's when he starts to cry again. Ianto pulls him into his lap shushing him "hey what's wrong baby boy"
"Th-this guy b-bullied me for having t-two d-d-daddies" Chris looks up to his papa with wide eyes "is it wrong to have two daddies?"
"No sweetie no" Ianto assures him "people may think is wrong. But it's not, two women or two men could have a child together. But it doesn't matter. Love is love Chris and you have two people loving you very much"
"So so I'm different" Chris asks
"Yeah but a good different" Ianto tells him, smiling a little.
"Did you hear that Auntie Gwen" Chris says turning back to the grave stone "I'm a good different. That's good right? I hope you read my letter Auntie Gwen"
"You wrote her a letter" Ianto asks.
"Yep." Chris stands up and rubs the mud off his trousers "daddy told me to give Gwen a message so I wrote her a letter. Now come on papa daddy is cooking cookies!!"
Chris walks off a little and waiting at the gate for his papa. Ianto grabs his books that Chris left on the floor and stands up, straightening his tie. He blows a kiss to the gravestone "I miss you Gwen. Love ya" he walks off to his son.
What they didn't know, is that Gwen was watching them all this time as a ghostly figure. She places her hand over her heart as ghostly tears run down his face.
"I love you too" she whispers into the night "I promise I will read the letter Chris, Auntie Gwen never breaks a promise"
Aww I cried a little writing this.
