The tapping of his feet was beginning to tick me off, and I found myself clutching the patients folder so tight that my knuckles turned white. I glared at him from behind the counter. If I was to yell at him, I would have to endure the consequences. I huffed loudly, causing him to glance up at me. A forced smile crossed my lips.

"The doctor will be with you in a minute, sir." And can you stop the fucking tapping? I bit my tongue to stop myself. He smiled at me. His shoe kept on tapping against the floor.

"hijo de perra [son of a bitch]." I mumbled to myself as I gathered more folders and stalked away.

I breathed deeply, no longer feeling aggravated, or caring the heavy burden of Cesar's safety. He is safe. He is home. And Oscar promised.

Previous Night...

We sat gathered in the living room. Oscar was leaning against the wall; a calculated look etched to his face. Cesar stared at my baby bump. His eyebrows furrowed. "Ahem," he cleared his throat, "so, I'm going to be an uncle?" He rubbed his palms against his pants.

I smirked at his uncomfortable state, nodding my head as he continued to fumble for words. His head titled towards Oscar then back towards me. "Congrats, mano."

"What I don't get a congrats?" I lightly smacked his forearm. "Idiota, I'm the one caring it!"

He laughed lightly.

"I have a plan." Oscar's voice cut through the laughter. I glanced towards him, a hand caressing my baby bump. His eyes bore into Cesar's. "But this doesn't get out of this room."

He took a swig of beer before delving into the plan to set Cesar free.

Now...

Coming back home from work usually means to unwind and maybe soak into a warm bath. A safe haven, or so. But that's not the case when you live at the Diaz's house. Pulling up into the driveway I saw Ruby and Jamal nudging each other and what seems like bickering.

"Guess his plan is working." I mumbled as I wobbled out of the car. At the sound of the door slamming, Jamal jumped in a startled way and Ruby ducked his head. They began to bicker again; oblivious to my presence.

I came to a halt behind them. Clearing my throat. Jamal yelped, while Ruby turned immediately towards me. "You boys here for Oscar?"

Ruby mumbled a 'yes' while Jamal tugged at  his shirt. They smoothed the crinkles on their clothes and straightened their postures. I smirked, shaking my head at their reactions - the poor souls were frightened of Oscar. "And I guess a way to mans heart is through," I glanced at the box of donuts in Ruby's arms, "classy."
