In 30 days I would be crowned the new pharaoh of Egypt. There was no use of forcing her to stay in the kingdom while I remained idle with power, so I insisted her and family return to Zothando.
Before she left for Zothando, the gown for the wedding needed to be sewn.
"Have you picked which clothes you want for the ceremony?" I announced as she sat at the table to eat. Her parents had left a few days earlier to return to their royal duties in their homeland.
"No" she answered flatly, shoving a bundle of soft grapes into her mouth.
"You need to pick a dress and garments to be sewn in time for the ceremony." I advised her. I didn't desire to marry her. She was a pretty thing no doubt, but it was because of my own folly that I saved myself from the first war between our lands.
"I want to find the ugliest gown and the most hideous robes you have."
"You wish to look like a fool?"
"Yes. Any woman who marries you must be a fool" she smiled and leaned back into her chair.
"Shall we?" I stood and escorted her to the room where she would pick her gowns and jewelry.
"I'll be wearing blue" I show her the color scheme.
"This one" she defiantly points to a emerald green garment.
"We must be matching in color. It is better we show a united font in front of the masses"
"Says who" she pouted, picking up a golden jewel.
"Tradition"
"It's time tradition went out the pyramids. Don't you?" she challenged my patience. "I will have this green one" she smiled to the seamstress.
I trapped her against the wall, roughly grabbing her chin. "I'm warning you know. Defiance does not sit well with me. I suggest you leave your defiance back in Zothando"
She smiled and ran a warm hand through my curls. "Yes master" she mocked me and turned to leave.
——
The day of wedding finally arrived. People from all across the land congregated into Alexandria to see the wedding of the century.
Of course I had told the seamstresses to sew an alternate plan of her dress, in the royal color of blue.
She came down the marble stairs in a sequined blue gown. Her dark skin was on display for all to see. The luxurious gown flowed into a beautiful skirt, each end billowing in the wind. The people gasped at the rarity of her slender body and form. She glared at each person as she went down the isle.
"Beautiful" I cursed irresponsiblly. My actions were more than apparent. My identity could not be tamed. She was magnificent.
She finally climbed to the alter and knelt as she was instructed.
"We have come to initiate the ceremony of Princess Nakini and Prince Titus" the official announced. He spoke a few more words as we both knelt in respect.
"Now. Each royal will consume snake blood. For those of you unfamiliar with Alexandrian tradition, snakes blood must be consumed in order to pass into a peaceful afterlife" he raises the cup and passes it for me to drink.
"I am not drinking snakes blood!" She fumed, loud enough for the front of the crowd to hear.
I grab her waist and glared at her to behave. "Drink it or else." I threatened her peace.
"Or else what?" she smiled and pushed the cup away from her lips. The people's whispers were evident. They knew something was wrong.
"Do you really want to do this? And be embarrassed in front of the people? Your parents?"
